BRIn potentially the most cringe thing I’ve ever done, had to get this moment on video.
Some people here probably don’t know I grew up figure skating. In fact, my first sports memory is Tara Lapinski winning in Nagano. I bugged my mom to let me skate. She thought it was a phase. Finally four years later she threw in the towel and let me do it (proving I’ve always been stubborn, actually, no, screw that. I’ve always been determined.). I had just begun skating the last time an American won a gold medal. I had no clue when I was 9 that it would take 24 more years to see this moment again.
I realize this won’t get a lot of likes or anything like that. But like Alysa Liu, I’m doing this for me. Congrats to Alysa. Thank you so much for bringing both joy to me and American figure skating fans alike.
