HE— Leafie: A Hen Into the Wild (2011)
I very distinctly remember watching this movie in Korean when it first came out, I was 7 years old. Leafie (the hen) picking up one of the weasel kits as leverage to save her adopted duck son was the scene that was the most burned into my memory! Still remember it like yesterday.
Ultimately I think it is a shame that in some countries, the true ending of Leafie sacrificing herself to feed the circle of life is censored.. Yes, it is sad, and no one really likes sad things, but it’s an important fact of life that children should understand to gain a balanced viewpoint of nature and animals. A happy ending can still be a happy ending, even if not everyone lives forever. I highly highly recommend this movie for those who have not seen it, it is fantastic.
Context: Leafie the Hen escapes from a farm to live her own life, and witnesses a female duck hunted by One Eye the Weasel. She adopts the duck’s egg, which hatches into a little duckling, who she calls “Greenie”. She raises him as her own as he finds his identity as a young duck. At the end of the movie, One Eye tries to eat Greenie, but Leafie stops her. Greenie thanks his mother and tearfully flies off with the rest of the ducks for the winter. Leafie, a chicken, cannot fly, and wistfully watches them go. Leafie recognizes that One Eye is hunting because she is starving and needs to feed her kits, just as Leafie cared for Greenie.

来年３月に実施される都道府県対抗全国ソフトボール大会(中学生)のための宮城県ジュニア選抜１次セレクションが名取第二中学校で開催されました。
気仙沼ホワイトタイガースからは、５名の子が挑戦しました。
結果は、ピッチャーで２名、内野手で１名の計３名の選手が１次セレクションを通過しました。おめでとうございます。🎉
でもこれからが本当の勝負になります。
惜しくも通過出来なかった２人のためにも、これから続く後輩たちのためにも11/15-16秋田県秋田市で実施される最終セレクション合格に向けて頑張って欲しいと思います。
