👇 Examples below 🇫🇷 • C’est facile. (It is easy.) • C’était intéressant. (It was interesting.) • Ça a été rapide. (It has been quick.) • Ça va être compliqué. (It’s going to be complicated.) • Ce sera parfait. (It will be perfect.) • Ce serait mieux comme ça. (It would be better like that.) 👀 For those of you wondering why sometimes it’s “ce” and sometimes “ça”… “Ce” is part of a fixed structure with the verb être (c’est, c’était, ce sera, ce serait), but it doesn’t work with all forms. For example: ❌ ce a été doesn’t exist → we say ça a été So when “ce” isn’t possible, French uses “ça” instead (ça a été, ça va être). So it’s partly grammar, partly usage, and you get used to it over time. 💾 Save for later 🤍 #learnfrench #frenchlanguage #frenchteacher

💾 Save this for later • quelqu’un → someone • quelque chose → something • quelquefois → sometimes • en quelque sorte → somehow / in a way • quelque part → somewhere 💡 Note: 🌸 Sometimes can also be translated as “parfois”, which is very common in everyday French. 🌸 Somehow can also be translated as “d’une manière ou d’une autre”, or “d’une certaine manière”, depending on the context. 💬 Can you make a sentence with one of them? Here’s why many French learners struggle to understand spoken French, even when they know the vocabulary, grammar and can speak & read the language. 1️⃣ Connected speech (liaisons and enchaînement) Words link together, making it hard to hear where one word ends and the next begins. Ex: vous avez sounds like vouzavez. 2️⃣ Silent letters Many written letters are not pronounced, so the spoken form can look very different from the written word. Ex: beaucoup (a lot) sounds like boku. 3️⃣ Reduced sounds in fast speech Native speakers shorten and compress sounds. Ex: je ne sais pas (I don’t know) becomes j’sais pas or ché pas. 4️⃣ The disappearing ne in negation In everyday speech, the first part of the negation often disappears. Ex: je ne peux pas (I cannot) becomes j’peux pas. 5️⃣ Homophones Different words share the same pronunciation. Ex: verre, vert, vers, and vair all sound the same. 6️⃣ French rhythm and syllable flow French is syllable timed, meaning each syllable carries similar weight. This can make word boundaries harder for English speakers to detect. 7️⃣ Similar sounding vowels French includes several vowel sounds unfamiliar to English speakers. Ex: u, ou, eu, an, on, in. 8️⃣ Pronouns blending into verbs Short grammatical words attach closely to verbs in fast speech. Ex: je te le donne (I give it to you) can sound like jtle donne. 9️⃣ Informal contractions in everyday speech Common expressions often shrink in conversation. Examples: il y a becomes ya tu as becomes tas qu’est ce que becomes kesk 🔟 Discourse markers and filler words These appear frequently in conversation but are rarely taught early. Ex: ben, quoi, enfin, genre. 11 Speed Native speakers speak much faster than beginner listening materials. 12 Spoken grammar differs from textbook French Everyday structures often change. Ex: qu’est ce que tu fais becomes tu fais quoi. 💬 Comment “newsletter” to learn French with me! I’ll send you the link to join my free weekly newsletter.
