Looking back, this moment aged wildly. In 2012, Linux founder Linus Torvalds called out NVIDIA over Linux support during a public Q&A. The moment went viral because it exposed a deeper issue: when hardware companies control access, developers might pay the price. Today, NVIDIA dominates AI, GPUs, and data center compute. The company evolved. The stakes got bigger. But the core trade-off between openness and control is still shaping tech decisions, markets, and platforms. Looking back, this moment aged wildly. In 2012, Linux founder Linus Torvalds publicly called out NVIDIA over its Linux support during a Q&A. The clip went viral because it exposed a deeper tension in tech: when hardware companies control access, developers often pay the price. Fast forward to today, NVIDIA dominates AI, GPUs, and data-center computing. The company evolved. The stakes became enormous. Yet the core trade-off Torvalds pointed to — openness versus control — still shapes platforms, markets, and developer ecosystems. Tech history doesn’t fade away. It quietly explains the present, long before most people notice. Follow @_business_mindsett_ for elite lessons from the world’s boldest entrepreneurs. #technology #ai #nvidia #opensource #innovation

A Brief Look At Linux Headquarters With It’s Founder Linus Torvalds. FUN FACT: It is estimated that there are over 3 Billion devices running LINUX today including smartphones, tablets, tv’s, web servers, game consoles, cars and even spacecrafts etc. Linux is named after Linus Torvalds, the Finnish software engineer who created it in 1991. As of 2023, there are over 20 million lines of code in the Linux kernel. #linustorvalds #linux #ceo #founder #computerscience #computerprogramming #ai #machinelearning #neuralnetworks #softwareengineering #wealth #entrepreneur #inventors #inventions #opensource #android #ios #windows

Linux wasn’t a master plan… and neither was Git. 😂 Linus Torvalds literally built two of the biggest tools in tech — just because he wanted to avoid working with too many people. Here’s the wild part 👇 Linus explains that every project he’s ever created came from something he personally needed. Not hype. Not trends. Not chasing fame. Just building tools to make his own life easier… which accidentally reshaped the entire software world. That’s the kind of creator mindset that changes everything: Solve a real problem you feel deeply — and the world might just follow. Would you ever build something just to make your own life easier? 🤔💡 --- 👉 Drop a “YES” if you believe the best products come from personal pain points. 👉 Comment your favorite Linus moment if you’re a real programmer. 👉 Follow for more tech legends + AI insights. --- #linustorvalds #linuxcommunity #gitdeveloper #programmerlife #techcreators

Demek ki bazen çözüm basitmiş: “Bir küfür = Bir güncelleme.” Linus Torvalds’ın ünlü “Fuck you, NVIDIA!” Linus Neden Bu Kadar Sinirlendi? Torvalds’ın tepkisinin arkasında birkaç temel sebep vardı: 1. NVIDIA’nın Linux’a Kapalı Sürücülerle Yaklaşması NVIDIA yıllarca: Donanım belgelerini paylaşmadı Açık kaynak topluluğuna destek vermedi Sürücü geliştirmelerini kapalı tuttu Bu durum Linux ekosistemindeki geliştiricilerin NVIDIA kartlarını desteklemekte zorlanmasına neden oluyordu. 2. Optimus Teknolojisinin Linux’ta Sorunlu Olması O dönem NVIDIA'nın “Optimus” GPU değiştirme teknolojisi: Linux’ta düzgün çalışmıyordu, NVIDIA resmi destek vermiyordu, Topluluk kendi başına çözmeye çalışıyordu (Bumblebee gibi). 3. Topluluğun Sürekli Şikayet Etmesi Linux kullanıcıları Torvalds’a sürekli: “NVIDIA driver neden bozuk?” “Neden destek vermiyor?” gibi sorularla geliyordu. Aslında sorun Torvalds’ta değil, NVIDIA’nın iş birliğini reddetmesindeydi. Linus bu uzun süre biriken gerilimi o soru sırasında dışa vurdu. O An Ne Dedi? One of the most important people in software still saw one part of Linux as unfinished business. When Linus Torvalds said this in 2012, Linux had already won in servers, infrastructure, and was exploding through Android on mobile. But the desktop was different. Consumer habits, software compatibility, hardware support, and ease of use made desktop operating systems much harder to take over. That’s what makes this clip interesting: even after helping build one of the most important operating systems in the world, Torvalds still pointed to Linux on the desktop as the gap that bothered him most.

Back in 2012, Linus Torvalds - the creator of the Linux kernel - publicly called out Nvidia for its long-standing lack of proper Linux support. His anger wasn’t random or performative; it came from years of frustration with closed-source GPU drivers that made Linux systems harder to maintain, debug, and improve. Nvidia’s refusal at the time to fully cooperate with the open-source community went directly against how Linux is built and maintained. When Linus said “Nvidia, f*** you,” it wasn’t about insults - it was a blunt expression of the tension between open-source development and proprietary hardware control. That moment became iconic because it captured a truth many developers already felt: great software depends on openness, collaboration, and respect for the ecosystem it runs on. Linus Torvalds often jokes that Linux was supposed to be a simple desktop operating system and somehow ended up running almost everything except desktops. What began as a personal side project quietly took over servers, supercomputers, cloud infrastructure, and eventually mobile, with Android now activating hundreds of thousands of devices every day. The irony still annoys him. Linux dominates the world’s most critical systems, yet the desktop remains the one place it never fully conquered. Sometimes the biggest successes are often accidental you aim at one problem, and the world finds a much bigger use for what you built. This moment lives rent-free in every developer's head. 💀💻 If you work in US tech, you know the struggle of proprietary drivers. When Linus Torvalds dropped the ultimate F-bomb on Nvidia, it wasn’t just an insult—it was a declaration of independence for the open-source community. This edit perfectly captures the chaotic, powerful energy of switching from Windows/Mac to the Linux ecosystem. Whether you are running penetration tests on Kali, flexing your neofetch on Arch, or just value total control over your machine, this is the mindset that built the internet. In the American software scene, from Silicon Valley startups to heavy cybersecurity firms, Linux remains the undisputed king of infrastructure. It’s about freedom, customization, and having the skills to build (and break) things yourself. If you aren't using the terminal yet, you're missing out on the real power of computing. 🚀 Drop a comment: Which distro are you daily driving right now? 👇 Save this for your daily coding motivation. Share this with a friend who needs to ditch Windows.#linux #linustorvalds #softwareengineer #cybersecurity #kalilinux #archlinux #programmerhumor #siliconvalley #techlife #codinglife #usatech #developer #opensource #sysadmin #ethicalhacking #pythonprogramming #techmemes #compscistudent #codingbootcamp #unix
