I have been missing my Daphne every single day, since she left us in October, 2025.
Long story short: Our neighbor let her terrier out b/c our buns escaped from their fenced in area. Itโs no secret that she didnโt like our bunnies, and this was done on purpose. The terrier chased them, barked, and snarled. As they ran back in, my Daphne was so scared, the trauma overcame her body. She was hyperventilating for hours until we could see the vet. She refused to eat or drink water.
The vet gave her a shot of steroids for any type of inflammation she may have. I was willing to pay all that I have to save her, but he said there was nothing I could do ๐
Once we returned home, she laid in her flop bed, too weak to move. Her twin, Dahlia, groomed and comforted her. I noticed she kept trying to lift her head up, but it kept falling. I picked her up in her flop bed, and set her on the couch, between Bun Papa and myself. I noticed her breathing started to slow. My heart dropped ๐ I could feel that this was it ๐ข
I cradled her closely, and showered her with pets and kisses, and comforting wordsโฆuntil she drew her last breath.
There are no words to describe the excruciating pain you feel when losing a loved one. When family members and friends pass, I have never cried. But when I lose my babies, it literally feels like a piece of my soul has been ripped out, and parted alongside them ๐ and I am a sobbing mess of a person.
Itโs taken me this long to post anything regarding her passing b/c seeing her pics/vids makes me want to cry. I am comforted by her choosing me as her Bun grandma, and blessing me with nearly 4 years of happiness.
The day she passed, we encountered a giant moth in our home that night, which has never happened before, and hasnโt happened since. Bun Papa said itโs her. That she is still with us and loves us ๐๏ธ
I have loved her from the moment she first opened her eyes, until the day she took her last breath. I will love her forever โพ๏ธ and hold her in my heart until the moment I am able to hold her in my arms once more ๐๐ฝ
