To get in great shape, you need to suffer through it.⁣⁠ Make sure to never enjoy yourself and never eat Ice Cream. ⁣⁠ How many times have you stuck to a super strict diet and training program dreaming about the end where you can have your celebratory cheat meal and take a break? Was it enjoyable? ⁣⁠ Did it last? Did you maintain the results permanently?⁣⁠ ⁣⁠ Are you still doing it now and not seeing results, or did you quit because it wasn’t sustainable? ⁣⁠ And now, do you have that same weight loss goal again or even more weight to lose than last time? ⁣⁠ I’m not trying to be a jerk and call you out. However, I am calling out the flaws in that type of plan and mentality that was sold to you. ⁣⁠ You do not need to be miserable to lose weight and keep it off.⁣⁠ ⁣⁠ Here are some interesting tidbits about an effective weight loss program:⁣⁠ ⁣⁠ *Not every workout will leave you sore. It might occasionally happen, but it shouldn’t be constant. If it is, your program may be too challenging and you might not be recovering adequately, which can hinder your progress.⁣⁠ ⁠ *You might need to adjust your food choices during your journey, but that doesn’t mean you should categorize foods as “good” or “bad.” No foods are inherently off-limits while you’re working to lose fat.⁣⁠⁣⁠ However the better quality of food the better quality of your health. ⁠ *Nonstop cardio isn’t essential for fat loss, but some is vital for overall health. You don’t have to do it for hours each day. ⁠ *Supplements aren’t necessary for weight loss. They can simplify things once you have a strong diet in place. BUT they are never mandatory. ⁣⁠ I always advise clients to embrace and enjoy the process. It matters far more than attempting a drastic life change with unrealistic expectations.⁣⁠ The more pleasure you find in something, the longer you’ll stick with it.⁣⁠ ⁣⁠ Keep this in mind when you start seeing ads for the newest “lose 20 lbs in 20 days” promos. Here’s a balanced approach: do both. 🤝 If you just eat real food 🍎 but consume more calories than you burn, you’ll gain weight ⚖️. Conversely, just counting macros while eating processed, low-quality food 🍔 can lead to digestive issues 🤢 and possible weight gain (speaking from experience). 😅 Here’s the scoop: I eat real food, but I also track my macronutrients based on my goals 🎯 and training 🏋️. I’m not suggesting you count macronutrients forever, but it’s beneficial initially and periodically. My issues with “diets” Many diets are one-size-fits-all, ignoring individual needs such as allergies, medical conditions, lifestyle, and personal preferences. Many diets exclude entire food groups, leading to nutrient deficiencies. Diets often have exaggerated claims of rapid weight loss or miraculous health benefits and are not sustainable for long-term goals and health. The pressure to follow strict diets can lead to disordered eating patterns or negatively impact mental health. Ie: “I can’t wait for my CHEAT DAY!” Many diets prioritize weight loss over overall health, disregarding important factors like physical activity and mental well-being. This is a big “favorite” of mine. It’s a diet on which you HAVE to purchase all the supplements that the influencer or expert sells because “these are the best supplements in the world” and the only way to be successful is by taking these exact products. Hey. Stop dieting. Change lifestyle habits that lead to long-term goals that you can keep! 5 easy steps to clean up your diet today! Cut out high-calorie sugary drinks & snacks. You’d be SHOCKED when you see how much sugar is in ALOT of beverages and processed food. Eat real whole food. I’m talking about the actual food as the ingredient. Do you want French fries? Cool. Who doesn’t? Chop up potatoes, season, bake, or air fry. Drink half your weight in ounces of water. If you weigh 200 lbs, drink a MINIMUM of 100oz of water. Cut out booze for 30 days and watch how you feel! My guess is you’ll go even longer. Focus on protein in each meal. When you make the focus protein it will be much harder to overeat the fats and carbs! Just focus on the essentials – move daily 🚶‍♂️, stay hydrated 💧, and keep meals as normal as possible. When it’s celebration time 🎉, go ahead and eat what you love ❤️. But remember, don’t overindulge! 😋 That’s crucial. If you’re enjoying a nice Christmas dinner 🍽️ with all your favorites, awesome! Savor it, but avoid going back for three plates 🍽️. We’ve got Christmas Eve dinner tomorrow and Christmas dinner the day after 🎅🎁. For both days, I’m sticking to the basics: moving around 💪, enjoying good food 🍗, and more. I’ll indulge in the dinners, but I’ll stop eating when I’m 80% full ✅ and, of course, save room for dessert 🍰. Expect a slight weight increase, but don’t stress about it 🤷‍♀️. No one gains 5 pounds of body fat overnight. Your body is digesting, and water weight may rise, but it’s all good 👍. Just get back on track for a few days, and you’ll be back to normal 🔄.
