How to get CRISP pictures and videos of your work💘👇🏼 I use my iPhone 14 Plus to take all my pictures and videos. When I’m taking pictures I like to make sure I stand back from my client and zoom in slightly, you don’t want to have your phone too close to your clients face as you will see every single tiny imperfection that even the naked eye can’t see! Standing back gives you more of a realistic interpretation of what the client actually looks like, for some reason the iPhone cameras tend to show us every little pore and wrinkle if your too close😂💘 For lighting I use a mix of natural lighting and panel lights, I like to use 2 of the neweer panel lights from Amazon and have each of them facing both sides of my clients face, I then have my blinds from my window completely open pointing directly to the front of my clients face this set up is the best way I’ve found🩷 Don’t hesitate to ask anymore questions my dms are always open🫶🏻 #mua #lighting #makeupartist #makeupartistlighting #makeup #makeupaddict #makeuplook #makeuptransformation #makeupartisthacks

“Good makeup can still look bad in bad lighting.” After 14 years of glamming brides, one thing I’ve perfected is my lighting setup. Not just to apply makeup but to make sure it looks the same in photos as it does in person. Bad lighting can make makeup look washed out, overly bright, or completely different than what the artist actually created. My goal is always to capture my work as true to life as possible, because my Instagram is my portfolio. When a bride sees my page, I want her to know exactly what my work looks like in real life. That way there’s never a moment where a client says “I don’t look like your Instagram page.” Good lighting allows me to: • See true undertones while applying makeup • Blend complexion products seamlessly • Prevent makeup from looking washed out • Capture photos that reflect the real result Because the goal isn’t just beautiful makeup it’s honest consistent results. That’s why strong makeup photography and clean videos are not optional they are essential.✅ 🔽Here are a few fundamentals every makeup artist must follow: ✨First ✨ background or rim light. This helps separate your client from the background and creates a beautiful outline, giving that professional DSLR-style depth. Portrait mode and cinematic mode become the cherry on top. ✨Second✨ avoid bright white backgrounds. White isn’t bad, but for phone makeup photography, warm or deeper tones work much better. White backgrounds often increase contrast, making shadows look harsher and skin texture appear more prominent than it actually is. The balance just doesn’t look as flattering. ✨Third ✨ maintain distance from the wall. This is one of the most common beginner mistakes. If your client is standing directly against a wall or curtain, the shot looks flat and unprofessional. Always leave some space behind them to create depth and that 3D effect. ✨Fourth ✨ use reflectors correctly. If your key light is slightly angled on one side, place the reflector on the opposite side to soften shadows. Gold adds warmth, silver gives a cooler tone, white creates soft fill light, and black helps block light for more dimension. Reflectors are also amazing for outdoor shoots under sunlight. And remember ✨ the light source can be anything: ring light, tube light, lantern, even studio lighting. What matters most is the placement and these core principles staying consistent.
