From wedging to wheel to kiln, Emme documents every step of her creative process in the pottery studio, building pieces that are just as fun to use as they are to put on display. #MakingThings ✂️ Drawing, cutting and assembling each piece by hand, @paper__pepper (Paper Pepper) builds storybook-like worlds, one cutout at a time. “This very simple medium — paper — can be layered to create a complete scene, and that process has become the core of my work,” says Paper Pepper. “Now I combine this with ASMR to build small paper worlds that invite people to pause, feel calm and smile, even just for a moment.” Always working by hand, Paper Pepper uses basic tools like paper, scissors, markers, glue and tape to create her work, taking notes from the small and fleeting moments around her to inspire each scene. “I often find myself wondering, ‘What kind of expression would this object make if it were alive? She’s an expert at the art of “interactive” clothing, garments and accessories embedded with playful little easter eggs like lighting, hidden pockets, movable pieces and more. “Most of my joy comes from figuring out how to make something interactive,” she says. “A rollerskate with laces you can tie up, car wheels that spin, doors that open, nutcrackers with mouths that move. You really need to write shit down As creative people we love leaning into the whole right brain messy thing and use it as an excuse to not be organised. How is that working out for you ? I hid behind it too, but when I realised it wasn't really working for me, because I was overwhelmed by the disorganisation, things shifted. There were so many weekends that I wanted to work on stuff, but I either couldn't find what I needed, I didn't have any space on my table, or I couldn't remember where I left off, so I'd just give up after moving things around. My oven doesn’t get hot underneath so I’ve popped in the bulky Tupperware that took up a whole cupboard, so I’ve got so much more cupboard space now! . If you build a surround (or sides at the very least underneath) you could put it on drawer runners and have a push to open mechanism, but I chose super shallow wheels instead. .
