Double the other.
The answer stays exactly the same.
It turns hard multiplications into easy ones.

Half 16 โ 8
Double 50 โ 100
๐ 8 ร 100 = 800

18 ร 25
Half 18 โ 9
Double 25 โ 50
๐ 9 ร 50 = 450
Example 3
24 ร 20
Half 20 โ 10
Double 24 โ 48
