THLet’s talk 6th grade math🔢
A lot of us are getting ready to jump into “actual teaching” now that the first week or 2 is done.
I’m a huge advocate for a slow start into your grade level standards and units, BUT with a purpose. We’re not just using fluff and filling time around here. The 3 bootcamp lessons I used in 6th grade are a perfect example of what I mean.
We start with 3 skills that build students’ up with tools in their toolbox for gaps they often come in with, while providing reminders through these mini-lessons.
I’ve done this in 4th & 5th grade too. So, how can we dig deep into the progression of math topics and skills (not just standards) and figure out a way to ease our kids into new standards, while being purposeful?
