CLOn December 5, 2010, the 33rd Annual Kennedy Center Honors took place at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C. During the gala, Paul McCartney was celebrated as an honoree alongside Merle Haggard, Oprah Winfrey, Bill T. Jones, and Jerry Herman.
The tribute to McCartney’s musical catalog, which was formally introduced by Alec Baldwin, featured a musical segment by Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler. Tyler performed a medley of The Beatles’ songs from the 1969 album “Abbey Road,” consisting of “She Came In Through The Bathroom Window,” “Golden Slumbers,” “Carry That Weight,” and “The End.” This tribute was performed before a live audience that included President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, who were seated with the honorees.
The event was subsequently broadcast on the CBS network on December 28, 2010.
