Supplies are here, officially a month being home - & I have learned ALOT. Specially when it come to equipment & supplies & how it all works.
Our supplies were a day late & I was stressing because we ran out of so much way before the date!
It’s not as simple as I thought it would be- everything requires a doctors order! 🙃
I am still trying to find an organizing system + a home for everything - but this is my “starter” set up ☺️

VAWe are getting into a good flow of trips with Ollie!
Our very first appt I was schedule with an ambulance until we get comfortable. I canceled it 😂 and just felt more comfortable and confident with the nurse and I doing it.
It’s been so smooth PTL!
Oliver requires 24hr care - we were so blessed to get 2 nurses 4 days out of the week 🤩 incredible help for us.
It’s been very busy over here, non stop phone calls, doctor visits, scheduling appts, dealing with healthcare. And also trying to get a routine for Oliver + adjusting our life.
This is so hard but Iam so so happy GOD has given the strengths, the resources, the community to do all of this!

BRSomewhere around month 2, I realized I could do a NGT flush in my sleep. And I didn’t know how to feel about that.
I remember the first time I had to flush my daughter’s Naso-Gastric tube. My hands shook so badly the nurse had to steady them. Two months later? I was doing it one-handed while making her breakfast.
And that’s the weird thing about long treatment - chaos becomes routine. You learn the rhythm. Morning meds. Obs at 10. Lunch. Afternoon meds. Another obs. Dinner. Evening meds. Sleep. Repeat.
I kept waiting to feel like I was “handling it better.” But honestly? I think I was just… numb to it. Adjusted doesn’t mean okay. It just means your nervous system found a way to function in abnormal.
We weren’t thriving. We were surviving in high definition.
But here’s what I DID notice: in that rhythm, we found moments. Jokes with nurses. Games between procedures. Tiny pockets of normal that we wouldn’t have seen if we’d stayed in constant panic mode.
I don’t know if that’s resilience or just what happens when you have no other choice. Maybe both.
If you can do hospital routines in your sleep, you’re not alone in this weird expertise. 🩵

RASunday = reorganizing day for little miss Rian.
Sometimes I feel like I’m running a mini hospital out of our house with all of her supplies.
Keeping track of:
• medication refills
• DME inventory
• refilling syringes
• charging suction machine equipment
• charging her portable concentrator
• charging the pulse ox
• feeding pump charging
• restocking bags
• oxygen tubing
• checking oxygen tanks
• suction supplies
• venting syringes in the large shelving cubbies by her changing table
• syringes to check the balloon in her Mickey button
• syringes for meds
…and that’s just part of the list.
Today we reorganized and refilled all 100 of her 1 ml syringes , 60ml syringes , adapters to make room in her closet for another shipment of DME supplies arriving this week. We also rechecked diaper bags, restocked formula, and made sure all of her medical gear is always ready to go.
I swear organizing Rian’s supplies is a never-ending cycle of reorganizing and trying to find better places for everything.
Anyone else feel like that sometimes?
It. Never. Ends.
And yes… that is in fact a 💩 chart for Rian on the fridge 😂🫣

DRYoung adult male comes in with shortness of breath and wheezing, vitals are normal other than a low grade temp and borderline tachycardia. He is wheezing throughout and the rest of his exam is unremarkable. He has a known history of asthma. He is ordered for 3 duonebs, 125 of solumedrol IV, basic labs, EKG and a CXR. About a half hour into his ED stay, while the nurse is at bedside, she calls for help from the rest of the team. Patient is noted to be tachycardic, profoundly diaphoretic, flushed with injected conjunctiva, exhibiting rhinorrhea and no significant change in his lung exam from the initial assessment. He is still on his first nebulizer treatment.
