✨Followers Only Post✨because this video is so long it will not be suggested to anyone not already in our circle. If I could go back in time… we would have filed the K-3 Visa. Processing time is 6-12+ months, and it allows the spouse to live in the US for up to 2 years while waiting for immigration stuff. Literally cannot believe our lawyers did not suggest this. When my husband and I met we’re were teenagers (16 & 17) just talking on the internet. 3 years later, I was on my way back to the US from the world championship baton twirling competition in Norway, and I had a 5 day “layover” in London (completely on purpose) where we were able to first meet! We’ve been going back and forth ever since. Conventional wisdom says to not move somewhere just for a relationship, it puts too much pressure on it to succeed and could become a problem. However… at some point that’s exactly what it’s time to do. We tried to get the timing right, and in doing so this has taken far longer than expected. Live and learn. Hoping for the best, and for now we remain doing the back and forth visits. #longdistance #relationshiptips #spousalvisa #ukvsusa #internationallove #longdistancerelationship #i130

As someone who has moved 9+ times in 17 years of marriage, I know a thing or two about packing and moving 🫠 So if I had to do it all over again, here’s what I would do: 1. Pack and declutter at the same time: don’t waste time by doing things twice. If you’re going to pack regardless, you may as well declutter at the same time! 2. Declutter radically: This is not the time to be indecisive! Do not bring junk with you, and don’t waste too much time selling stuff (give it a day or two and if it doesn’t sell, DONATE!) 3. Re-think your furniture: moving is a great time to assess your furniture and if you even like it. When we moved cross provinces, we sold 90% of our stuff because it cost just as much to move our stuff as it would to re-purchase it. So if you’re moving far away, do the math, it might just make sense to start over (bonus: you’re not tied down to making things match your existing furniture / can start fresh!) 4. Get help! Don’t be afraid to reach out for extra hands when you need it. Trying to do everything alone is too hard, and your friends are probably happy to help 💕 5. Try to keep things organized and labelled by ROOM and CATEGORY: for example, “kitchen: appliances” so you know EXACTLY where things are when you need to unpack on the other end. Anything else you would add to this list?? Let me know in the comments! And hey, if you’re in the middle of a big life change, move, renovation, or transition, comment “EMERGENCY” below and I’ll send you my declutterring emergency kit for free— inside I’ll show you exactly what to do if you’re moving/in transition and how to prioritize tasks to not get overwhelmed 🫶🏻

Here are my TOP MOVING TIPS: 1. Downsize, downsize, downsize - sell everything you know you DO NOT WANT in another home. Donate whatever doesn’t sell! Extra pro tip: price things to sell on Facebook, not for what you think they’re worth 2. Organize all belongings that are already packed (i.e. baby clothes for future children). We have everything in clearly labeled black storage tubs and things like clothing are in labeled vacuum seal bags. It helps when you are moving in to the new location because you know where the bin belongs. 3. Book a hotel room for the nights you are moving out. Nothing is worse than trying to live in a home that you are moving out of. My husband recommended we book a hotel for our last PCS and I thought he was crazy, but it ended up being a huge blessing to go shower and sleep in a place that wasn’t a pile of boxes and clutter. After 22 years in one house, purging before our move was one of the best things we did. Furniture, kitchen stuff, garage, attic… even 20 bags of clothes. Selling items in season on Facebook Marketplace helped a lot too. Letting go of things you don’t need feels really good!! #movingtoflorida #movingtips #decluttering #newchapter #moving
