If I could go back in time… we would have filed the K-3 Visa. Processing time is 6-12+ months, and it allows the spouse to live in the US for up to 2 years while waiting for immigration stuff. Literally cannot believe our lawyers did not suggest this.
When my husband and I met we’re were teenagers (16 & 17) just talking on the internet. 3 years later, I was on my way back to the US from the world championship baton twirling competition in Norway, and I had a 5 day “layover” in London (completely on purpose) where we were able to first meet! We’ve been going back and forth ever since.
Conventional wisdom says to not move somewhere just for a relationship, it puts too much pressure on it to succeed and could become a problem. However… at some point that’s exactly what it’s time to do. We tried to get the timing right, and in doing so this has taken far longer than expected. Live and learn.
Hoping for the best, and for now we remain doing the back and forth visits.
