If you’re knitting a jumper, it won’t take long until you come across an increase! Increases can lean towards the left or the right, and in patterns they’ll be abbreviated as M1R (make one right) or M1L (make one left). Here’s a little tutorial on how I do them on the right side of the work and when using a knit stitch! #knitting #knittersgonnaknit #knitstagram

You’d be surprised how little you need to master to knit your first sweater, AND always remember - it’s one step at a time. You’re infrequently combining all of them - so you can put your resources into mastering one piece at a time ❤️ I hope this gives you some confidence in learning to knit and encourages you to knit a sweater #strikken #knittingtutorial #knitting #sweaterknitting #strikke

Make one right is one of the most commonly used knitting increases - I think I’ve used it in every sweater I knit last year! I found it difficult to remember until I learned this phrase - and I’ve linked my tutorial for Make one Left below, the counterpart to M1R for knitting. If there’s another technique you’d like to see, let me know 💕 save this for the next time you need help with a make on knitted increase. #knitting #knittinginspiration #strikke #knittersofinstagram #sweaterknitting

Just discovered a fun easy to make design feature - raised knit stitches! This is super easy to knit, and creates almost like an i-cord in the middle of round! If you want to knit this in flat in stockinette, then row 2 would be normal purl stitches. What do you think? Follow @thelooptheory_ for more knitting tips!

I’ll share this technique over and over again because it *will* save you time and frustration! I promise I use this technique every time I pick up stitches anytime I’m knitting a sweater - unless you’re picking up 1:1 where it’s nearly impossible to have an error - so sleeves, collar, along the back of the air sweater, saddles on saddle shoulder sweaters, etc. I hope this helps you on your next project! 💕#knitting #strikke #knittersofinstagram #sweaterknitting #knittingtutorial

Part 2 of creating the most invisible increase: Left Lifted Increase (LLI) Just like the Right Lifted Increase, this method is worked into the stitch below — which makes it super clean, nearly invisible, and gap-free. No stretched bars, no little holes — just smooth, polished fabric. LLI is the perfect match to RLI when you want mirrored increases that actually look symmetrical. This simple calculation can help you knit a sweater that actually fits. If you know how many stitches you have per inch from your gauge swatch, you can calculate exactly how many stitches your sweater needs at the bust. Here’s the equation: stitches per inch × desired bust circumference (in inches) = total bust stitches So if I have 5 stitches per inch for my gauge and want a 40 inch finished bust circumference, I would want 200 stitches for my bust. This is how you can: • adjust a pattern to make sure it fits your body • compensate if your gauge is slightly off • knit a size between the sizes provided • control the amount of ease you want • make sure the bust measurement is exactly what you planned Patterns give stitch counts but this is how you choose the right one (or adjust it) with confidence. This is how you make sure you get the bust fit you actually want. Comment CLASSICA to get a link to this pattern…. and now you know exactly how to calculate the bust circumference you want! @dropsdesign Air #knitknitknit #knittingpattern #knitspo #alwaysknitting

A great technique from @pattyjlyons to help you in your knitting. This one could be a game changer. BOOKMARK IT - AHHH I forgot a decrease. Not going to lie - this happens to me all the time when doing sweater shaping. I put in my decrease as the start of the row, but by the time I’m at the end of the row, I forget. NOW, to avoid that, I use a vertical marking thread at the start of the row, put in my decrease, and then immediately put in a locking stitch marker at the end of the row where I’m supposed ot put in the decrease. This wakes me up. But . . . there are times when you buzz right past a decrease. No stress, just drop and pop! Drop down and pop in the fix.
