The entry of F1 superstar Max Verstappen into the 2026 Nürburgring 24 Hours has sent shockwaves through the endurance racing world, bridging the gap between grand prix prestige and the grueling “Green Hell.”
Driving a Red Bull-liveried Mercedes-AMG GT3 for his own Verstappen Racing team, Max demonstrated terrifying pace at the NLS2 preparatory race by securing pole position and crossing the finish line nearly a minute ahead of the field.
However, the victory was short-lived as the team was disqualified hours later for a “tire blunder”—mistakenly using seven sets of tires instead of the permitted six during the event.
Despite this technical setback, the sheer dominance of Verstappen and his teammates, Jules Gounon and Dani Juncadella, has proven they are the clear favorites for the main event in May.
