MYWhat do we do in Maine for fun when the temperature is below zero?? We go outside and try to reproduce the “Mpemba” effect. This is the name given to the observation that water which is initially hot can freeze faster than the same liquid which begins cold. So we take boiling water and throw it into the air to watch it instantly freeze. Fun!! 😂😁🙌 Also check out the crew on ARC Maine this week who will be trying this too!

According to Louis Vincent, on a -25°C day, a pot of boiling water and a pot of room temperature water were thrown into the air. The hot water instantly formed ice crystals and mostly went up in vapor, while the cold water simply fell into the snow.
No tricks, no editing, just pure physics in action! Louis also notes that this mysterious phenomenon is not yet fully understood by scientists. 🌡❄️
