📣 IMPORTANT NOTE: I’m not talking about social media. I’m not talking about followers. I’m talking about cinematic headshots and media aka your virtual storefronts (AA, IMDBPro etc Now let’s talk about something uncomfortable. Some casting directors love to say: “You don’t need to invest in high-quality marketing or media.” And on the surface, that sounds protective. Warm. Reassuring. But in practice? It keeps actors confused, invisible, and stuck. Because here’s the part they don’t say out loud: 👉The same people telling you that you “don’t need” better materials rarely call in actors who don’t have them. Read that again. If you’re angry that schools charge $250K+ for training and then send actors into the market with zero clue how hiring actually works, you should be. But don’t let that anger turn into resistance against one of the only things that actually moves the needle. Because this isn’t art school anymore. It’s business. And business works like this: ✅ Decision-makers hire based on evidence ✅ Evidence = headshots, reels, clips, casting profiles ❌ Confusion = no call-in ❌ Doubt = no booking Your audition is not the whole process. It’s a confirmation step. So let’s stop pretending this is kindergarten. It’s a cutthroat, competitive marketplace. The actors who win are: Clear Positioned Strategically packaged You’re not a victim for investing in your career. You’re a professional. And professionals don’t rely on hope. 💥 Talent gets you in the game. 💥 Positioning gets you hired. Low-quality headshots and generic media don’t open doors. They create friction. They raise doubt. High-quality, decision-ready materials do the opposite: They create clarity. They collapse time. They make casting say yes…faster, bigger, and with confidence. You’re not “faking it till you make it.” You’re showing the market you’re already ready.

If you’re an actor, model, or content creator using Instagram professionally, this is something you really need to know 👀 I was on a recent shoot chatting with someone from the brand, and the topic of fake followers came up. She casually mentioned a tool she uses that shows the percentage of fake followers on any account 😳 All she does is pop in the handle… and instantly sees the data. I had no idea this even existed. To be clear, most of us will have some fake followers (random bot accounts, not purchased). But if you’ve bought followers in the past or are even thinking about it… brands can absolutely tell 😱 Something to keep in mind if you’re building a career, not just a following. Save this, share it with someone who needs to hear it, and follow along for more industry insights. #actorlife #contentcreator #modelsofinstagram #socialmediatips #brandcollabs

Here’s what I did instead that worked. Here’s what actually moved the needle for me instead: I stopped blasting generic emails and started showing up where agents could actually see my work. I got specific, researching boutique agencies repping actors at my level, personalizing every single outreach, and making sure my online presence (yes, your socials count) told a story before they even clicked my resume. I also stopped waiting to be “ready” and started booking student films, indie projects, anything that kept my reel fresh and my name circulating. Agents want to sign momentum, not potential. The honest truth? I got signed because someone referred me. So I invested in relationships, with casting directors, directors, fellow actors, before I ever needed to cash them in. If you’re in the cold email trenches right now, my advice: audit your materials first. If your headshots, reel, and resume aren’t doing the heavy lifting, no amount of emails will fix that. And make sure your socials show who you are as a person and a professional... agents are absolutely looking. If you want more real talk about navigating the business side of acting, follow along... follow this account, this is exactly what I’m here for. #GettingAnAgent #ActingCareer #WorkingActor #ActorAdvice #HowToGetAnAgent ActorTips FilmAndTV ActingBusiness

I’m going to need a bigger glass. 🥃 Example: No restaurant opens and thinks doing the bare minimum is acceptable or complains that they have to market it. You design the space. You make it feel good the moment someone walks in. You market it so people know it exists. You position it for the right customer. Because if you’re competing against every other restaurant on the block (and you are) invisibility is a death sentence. The best food in the city means nothing if nobody knows the door is open. Your career is no different. You are the restaurant. Your Actors Access profile is the front window. Your headshots are the sign above the door. Your footage is the menu. And casting is walking the block deciding where to eat. When a project opens, casting posts a breakdown. Agents submit. But the moment you get clicked on (which starts with your headshot as the billboard) casting goes straight to your Actors Access profile. What they find there makes or breaks you. Your headshots. Your footage. Your bio. Your entire virtual storefront…evaluated in seconds. If it’s unclear, generic, or amateur, you’re out. Doesn’t matter how talented you are. They never get far enough to find out. Actors will spend $100K on a BFA and nobody bats an eye. Zero guaranteed employment. No quantifiable ROI. But invest a fraction of that (often 3%) into the assets the industry actually uses to hire you? Suddenly it’s controversial. Craft makes you good. Positioning gets you hired.

📣 A casting director told me auditions aren’t social media ads. Walk me through your internal process then. (because I was a casting director) Because I’d bet my entire business that when 2000 tapes drop for one role, you are not watching each one with patience and reverence. You are making a decision in seconds. You are triaging. You are scanning for fit and type and something that registers immediately and if it doesn’t, you’re already on the next one. That’s not an accusation. That’s Monday. The casting directors pushing back the hardest on this conversation are the same ones who (behind closed doors, under oath, with no audience) would admit that a tape has maybe 30 seconds to tell them something useful before the cursor moves. So the question isn’t whether I’m wrong. The question is why you’d rather call it hilarious than be honest with the actors who are spending hours on tapes, losing sleep over submissions, and blaming themselves when they don’t hear back. They’re not failing because they’re untalented. They’re failing because nobody told them the truth.

📣 Let’s zoom out and talk about how markets actually work. Actors spend tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars on training. ($100-$400K usually) That’s the product. But in every industry on earth, product alone isn’t enough. Imagine the president of Nike saying: “We spent all this money developing the shoe… but we don’t want to invest in positioning or marketing. People should just buy it because the product is great.” That would be absurd. Every business understands this: Great product + great positioning = sales. Done right in our industry? Less than $10K yet so many scream exploitation. Please explain. Casting directors don’t discover actors in a vacuum. They evaluate submissions through a system: • Actors Access • Headshots • Reels • Self-tapes That’s the storefront connected to Breakdown Services. That’s the hiring pipeline. So if training alone were enough… what exactly should actors do? Train forever and hope someone magically finds them? Do the bare minimum and hope for the best? Or learn how the marketplace actually evaluates talent so they can control some of the main variables that get them hired? The actors inside my program have collectively generated over $3M in verified bookings, with roughly 85% booking within six months after fixing their positioning, materials, and strategy. Those just out of school. Those who had been stuck trying to book their 1st Co-Star. Those stuck at Co-Star wanting to move to Guest Star. Explain how @ruthkavanagh1 who had been stuck trying to book her first a costar for over 10 years booked three of them within one year of working with us. Explain how @reginaohashi , who had been stuck at costar level for 10 years, booked three recurring roles within one year working with us Explain how @moore.ivan booked an eight episode recurring role within one month of finishing working with us. There are hundreds more. The only new variable? Upgraded positioning, assets and strategy. Teaching actors how that marketplace actually works isn’t exploitation. It’s the part of the business most actors were never taught.

If you’re serious about being an actor, your “talent” can’t be the only thing ready your access has to be too. There is nothing worse than an opportunity knocking and you fumbling because you don’t have your materials together. In this industry, timing is everything… and sometimes you don’t get a second chance to “send it later.” Your essentials should live where you can grab them instantly: •Headshots •Resume •Demo reel •Contact info •Casting profiles •Website or portfolio All in one place. One link. Clean. Updated. Ready. Because when someone says, “Send me your stuff,” what they’re really asking is: Are you prepared, or are you just interested? Prepared actors move differently. They don’t scramble they respond. Make it easy for people to say yes to you.
