SIFinally, from nothing to something…
Only 2 days left to my electronic music production module coursework final submission
2 weeks ago,
I was so panic cause I got no idea where to start
For the past 2 modules,
Music composition and music arrangement
I used music that has already ready composed by myself previously
The genre is clear cut, I’m always an indie pop person…
But when comes to electronic music
First of all, I am more musical instruments person
And not so electronic music
So, how to make something out of nothing within 2 weeks!!
So, I tell myself, open MuseScore
Turn on my keyboard
Just try to play around with C Major chord
And wallllaaaaa….
Musescore up with left right melody and accompaniment
Patched into Ableton as MIDI and starts to do layering!
OMG!!! Really!!
Short deadline can really push you off your limit!!

“Als bandleider van VADERFIGUUR dien ik voor nieuwe nummers een sheet te schrijven zodat de band het nummer kan instuderen. Dit doe ik met Musescore 4. Een fijn programma, maar het heeft zijn limitaties. Daarnaast heb ik uiteraard zelf ook limitaties op het gebied van het schrijven van bladmuziek. Je kunt in Musescore terugluisteren wat je hebt ingevoerd om zo te checken of alles in orde is. Echter hoor je hier zeer primitieve samples van lage kwaliteit. Met name de gitaren komen slecht overeen met wat de bedoeling is, omdat je geen beschikking tot oversturing hebt. Het resultaat klinkt smal, ongebalanceerd en soms lachwekkend onprofessioneel”.

“As the bandleader of the band ‘VADERFIGUUR’ I need to write out sheet music for the songs that I write so my band members are able to study the music. I use Musescore 4 to do so. It’s a nice piece of software, however it does have it’s limitations. But so do I when writing sheet music. In Musescore you can listen back to the arrangement you’ve made so far to check if everything translates correctly. However the samples the software uses sound low quality and rather primitive. Especially the guitars sound awful since you can’t add distortion to them. Resulting in a narrow, unbalanced and sometimes even laughable and unprofessional sound”.

MUThe results for the #StopTheScroll challenge are finally here. We asked you to write the most unskippable 15-second piece, and the sheer volume of talent completely blew us away. You proved exactly what MuseScore Studio and MuseSounds are capable of.
After a very tough deliberation, here are our winners:
🥇 1st Place: Christian Winkler (@monoton.musik / @chsirtain) For his incredibly vibrant and energetic swing piece, „DARE”! Christian is an 18-year-old student from near Hamburg, Germany. Music has been his life since he started piano at age four and trombone at ten, leading him into orchestras and ensembles where music became a shared social space. We loved how his composition took a completely unexpected route, brilliantly showcasing a dynamic, different side of our Muse Sounds library. „DARE” perfectly captures his drive to connect human emotion with technical precision.
🥈 2nd Place: @shuailiangc This was an incredibly close decision! „Ignition” is a brilliant cinematic track driven by pure rhythmic momentum. Instead of relying on dark drones, this piece uses a relentless string pulse and bright, high-register brass to capture the exact „spark” of resolve. A fantastic, forward-moving 15-second hook that feels just like a deep breath before a sprint.
🥉 3rd Place: Rayane Ferouni (@the_new_tchaikovsky) For the stunning composition „To a lost soul.” With a piece this beautifully crafted and emotionally resonant, Rayane truly lives up to his handle! A spectacular display of orchestral writing that left us speechless.
All three winners receive a MuseScore Pro+ subscription for a year. On top of that, our 1st place winner secures a MuseSounds Pro subscription to keep pushing those professional boundaries.
