ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK (3 Days):
– Drive up from Windhoek and stay at one of the camps in Etosha. A great starting point is Okaukuejo Camp, known for its large waterhole where animals gather in the evening. Spend your second night at Halali Camp (east), then head west and finish at Olifantsrus Camp 🦓
– Go on self-drive safaris at sunrise and late afternoon for the best wildlife sightings: elephants, lions, giraffes, and, rhinos and leopards!
DAMARALAND (2 Days):
– This region is raw and majestic, home to free-roaming desert-adapted elephants, ancient rock engravings, and Mars-like landscapes 🏜️
– Don’t miss the UNESCO-listed Twyfelfontein, home to the largest concentration of rock carvings in Africa🌿
– Stay at Onduli Ridge for incredible views, top-tier food, and exceptional service. You’ll also likely spot giraffes roaming the reserve
SPITZKOPPE (2 Days):
– Known as the “Matterhorn of Namibia,” this dramatic granite peak is a paradise for stargazers and outdoor lovers ⛰️
– Camp under the stars at one of the two campsites near Spitzkoppe. Bring your own food, firewood, and enjoy a peaceful evening by the campfire 🔥
– Hike to Bushman’s Paradise and soak in the silence and scale of the desert 💫
SANDWICH HARBOUR (1 Day):
– This is where the Namib Desert meets the Atlantic Ocean - giant dunes crashing into the sea in a surreal landscape 🌊
– Book a 4x4 guided tour (self-driving isn’t allowed!) to explore this iconic coastline. I highly recommend Sandwaves (and ask for Gerrie as your guide)
– Along the way, you’ll see salt flats, flamingos, and have plenty of ‘is this real life?’ moments 🦩
SOSSUSVLEI (2 Days):
– Welcome to Namibia’s most iconic sight, the towering red dunes. Climb Big Daddy or Dune 45 at sunrise, and explore the white clay pan of Deadvlei 🌄
– Stay at a campsite inside the second Sesriem gate to get in one hour earlier than most visitors and catch golden hour in peace ✨
