🔹 1. Definition
✅ Direct Speech
When we repeat the exact words of the speaker, it is called Direct Speech.
👉 Structure: Speaker + Reporting Verb + “Actual Words”
Example:
Ram said, “I am happy.”
✅ Indirect Speech (Reported Speech)
When we report the speaker’s words without using exact words, it is called Indirect Speech.
👉 Structure: Speaker + Reporting Verb + that/if + changed sentence
Example:
Ram said that he was happy.
🔹 2. Parts of Direct Speech
Reporting Verb → (said, told, asked, etc.)
Reported Speech → (words inside quotation marks “ ”)
🔹 3. Rules for Changing Direct to Indirect
✨ Rule 1: Remove Quotation Marks
Remove “ ” and use that (optional in some cases)
✨ Rule 2: Change Pronouns
