Being a parent is one of the most beautiful and challenging things you’ll ever do. And life with a newborn, whether it’s your first or fourth baby, begins with a blur of love, snuggles, and wondering, “Will this ever get easier? Will I ever sleep again?” (Spoiler alert: It will. And you will).  For now, lower the bar. Reset your expectations to meet you where you are in this moment - exhausted and so in love. Your baby doesn’t need a curated nursery or spotless counters. Being present enough to meet their needs (even when you’re covered in spit-up at 3 AM and everything feels hard) is more than enough.  Want more tips for navigating life with a newborn? If you're in the thick of the newborn phase, here are a few things that can make things a little easier: But before that, if you’re a newborn or expecting mum/parent wanting to take the guesswork out of the newborn stage - comment "NEWBORN" to get access to my newborn sleep workshop. 1. Organise baby essentials for efficiency Create a "go-to" basket or bag with nappies, wipes, and extra clothes. Water bottle, nipple cream and snacks. Set up a central station for bottles, and muslins to minimise searching during feeds. 2. Meal prep or order in Having easy meals available can save time and energy. Consider prepping simple dishes in advance or using meal delivery services when you’re too exhausted to cook. (Even better if people want to get you a present, ask for food!) 3. Celebrate small wins Seriously, acknowledge every tiny victory! A good latch? A decent burp? A five-minute moment of peace while they nap on you? These are the moments to celebrate. 4. Simplify household chores Consider a cleaning schedule with small, daily tasks. If possible, use time-saving services like online food shops to free up your energy for baby care. 5. Lower your expectations (BIG TIME!) This isn't the time for perfection. Forget about the spotless house or getting through your entire to-do list. Focus on the essentials: feeding, comforting, and getting rest whenever you possibly can. It's okay if everything else takes a backseat. 6. Prioritise connection over perfect sleep schedules Instead of stressing about creating a rigid sleep schedule, focus on responding to your baby's cues and needs. Lots of cuddles, skin-to-skin, and gentle responsiveness in these early weeks help them feel safe and secure, which is even more important than trying to force a sleep schedule that they're not developmentally ready for. _________ Comment "NEWBORN" to get access to my newborn sleep workshop and learn everything you need to know about your newborn and their sleep.  Lily x . . . #newborntips #newmum #newbornmama #postpartummom #postpartumlife #newbornphase #fourthtrimester #4thtrimester #newparent #newparentsupport #postpartumtips #babysleepcoach #newbornworkshop

Save if you’re pregnant or have a newborn! ✨👇🏼 Small changes but BIG results ⭐️ Offer feedings every 2-3 hours during the day!! We want baby to get in most of their calories during the daytime, so they don’t have to eat throughout the night and make up for any missed calories. We also want to avoid “snacking” throughout the day and aim for FULL feedings. ⭐️ Follow Eat, Play, Sleep. We want to avoid the feeding to sleep association because that is one of the hardest to break! Try to offer their feeding when your baby first wakes up to separate the two. This also helps baby to be more awake during the feeding, which will help ensure a full feeding vs baby falling asleep halfway through, and then waking after a short nap because they’re hungry again. ⭐️Follow wake windows! 30-90 minutes is normal for a newborn. They will be shorter the younger your baby is, and closer to the 90 minute mark as your baby nears 3 months. ⭐️ Use positive sleep associations…aka swaddling and white noise!! ⭐️ Expose baby to a lot of natural light in the daytime! This will help develop babies’ internal clocks and natural circadian rhythm. ⭐️ Create a bedtime routine that you follow in the same order EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. You can do this same routine before naps or a simplified version. Ex. Bath, diaper, pajamas, feeding, book, swaddle, sleep. If you can implement these, you will have laid a VERY strong foundation to get your baby sleeping LONG stretches at night 😍👏🏼 Follow for real-life sleep tips as I navigate the newborn stage with my fourth baby! 🤍 #pediatricsleepconsultant #babysleep #newbornsleep #newborntips #sleeptips

for me, “third times a charm” is the perfect way to describe what it feels like to experience the newborn stage I have never felt more calm, confident and just genuinely happy than I do now. I think with my second I was 3.5 years out of practice so I still had a few doubts and worries about my capability and capacity, but since I had my third soon after my second, and I’ve again witnessed how fast they grow from 0-20 months, I feel so incredibly equipped and just here to enjoy every little moment. Second or third time moms, did you feel this same way with your babies? #newborn #newbornbaby #momlife #momof3 #newborntips #newborntrenches

Send this to a parent who might be troubleshooting baby sleep tonight 👶🤍 With winter just around the corner (here is Aus), one small thing that can quietly mess with baby sleep… Temperature. If a baby is a little too cold overnight, it can sometimes show up as restless sleep or early morning wake-ups. A few signs parents sometimes notice: ❄️ restless or unsettled sleep ⏰ waking between 3–5am (often the coldest part of the night) 💧 heavier wet diapers or leaks 🤱 arms and legs tucked under the body 🛏️ scooting into the corner of the crib Now to be clear: This doesn’t always mean your baby is cold. Sometimes babies just have random restless nights, and that’s completely normal. But if you notice several of these happening together, it might be worth checking their sleep environment. A quick trick many pediatric sleep experts recommend: 👉 feel the back of your baby’s neck, not their hands or feet. Hands and feet can feel cold even when babies are perfectly comfortable. When things like temperature, wake windows, and routines start lining up… sleep usually gets a lot calmer for everyone in the house 😴 Especially the parents. #babysleeptips #newborntips #babysleep #newmomlife #newdad
