LIThose first 24 hours home are a lot. For both of you. But she just did something incredible and her body is proof of it.
This is your window to step up before she even has to ask.
Here’s what to own:
🛏️ Make sure she has somewhere comfortable to recover. Pillows, water, snacks within reach. Set it up before she even sits down.
🚿 Protect her rest. If someone else can hold the baby so she can shower or sleep, make that happen.
🍽️ Food is your job. She needs to eat real meals, not whatever’s easiest. Order it, make it, figure it out.
🚪 You are the gatekeeper. No unexpected visitors. No “we were just in the neighborhood.” Not today.
👶 Start bonding with your baby; when she needs to rest do some skin to skin, congrats dad.
📋 Know where everything is. Diapers, wipes, extra onesies, her medication if she has any. Don’t make her direct you.
🌙 Take the first night shift if you can. Even a few hours of uninterrupted sleep will change everything for her.
She’s going to remember how you showed up in these first 24 hours for a long time.
Make it easy to remember fondly.

The pacifier is usually a part of the sleep problem.
Pacifiers are great for soothing your baby and can help a lot of babies sleep in the first few months, BUT I generally recommend removing the pacifier between 3-6 months of age! 😳
It’s time to say good bye if you’re replacing it multiple times overnight or your baby can’t sleep without it.
It can cause A LOT of sleep disruptions even when your baby can replace it on their own as many babies will wake up and cry when they can’t find it. 🫠
I remove the pacifier 99% of the time when sleep training because it’s part of the problem!!
💪🏼💛The pacifier becomes a STRONG emotional attachment for babies between 6-12 months which can lead to some tears when removed from sleep if they are completely dependent on it.
⭐️ 3-6 months is the easiest transition.
