For some context...this is Adonis, he was raised by a cult who believed in the let's say...divinity of the memories and the Moon. This cult thought giving up their unwanted/bad memories and joining a "hivemind" type of consciousness would bring them salvation.
The one who was taking these memories and connecting all these people to hivemind was on the other hand was The High Priest (the one you see behind Adonis) they are actually a cluster of ice crystals aka. materialized memories, and they were only doing this to gain more power to control more people, even going to the lengths of taking all the memories of a person till they're nothing more than a dead meat. Of course this act is a perceived as an "ceremony" and one of the highest "honours" among the cult, so they don't see any wrongs in this.
Adonis's friend was a victim of this "ceremony" chosen by The High Priest's themselfs to join them...and after witnessing the act by his own eyes, with the pain of losing his friend Adonis's brain got cut of from the "hivemind" and damaged most of his memories of being in the cult. Which led the Priest to dump him somewhere far off since his mind was not useful for them anymore.
Years later Adonis crosses paths with somewhere called "Hall of Memories" with his new friends, even though he doesn't remember being there before, he can't feel but some kind of familiarce towards the place and oh boy that familiarce starts to kick in after sometime...let's just say the reunion wasn't uhh delightful...
