Why It Matters Essays are often the make-or-break factor in elite admissions. Grades and test scores get you in the door, but your story convinces the committee to choose YOU. 📍 3. For Students The best essays weren’t about “world peace” or “curing cancer.” They were about small moments — like failing a driving test, learning from a sibling, or building a backyard project — that revealed growth and resilience. 📍 4. One of the biggest things I’ve learned after reading so many applications is that admissions officers can feel when a student rushed… versus when they’ve been building intentionally over time. The student on the left is usually smart, hardworking, involved. But they never paused to ask, what am I actually building toward? So junior year turns into: • chasing leadership titles • picking classes just for GPA • trying to piece together an essay narrative in a few months The student on the right isn’t perfect either… but they just started paying attention earlier. They noticed patterns in their interests in 9th or 10th grade, chose courses that supported that direction, and stayed committed to a few activities long enough to create real depth. By senior year, their story didn’t need to be invented because it was already there. You don’t need your whole life planned out at 14. But being thoughtful a little earlier makes everything calmer later! If you want the exact framework I use to help students build a cohesive theme in high school, comment THEME and I’ll send you the free guide 📘🌟 #UltimateIvyLeagueGuide #UltimateMentor #UILG

Your College Essay should be at a 5TH GRADE READING LEVEL!!! Every time I mention this people freak out and I think it’s because they completely misunderstand the point - a 5th grade reading level is not a 5th grade writing level. it’s actually very difficult to simplify complex concepts to the point that a 10-year-old could understand them. But, when admissions officers are rapidly reading through your college essays if you don’t make your essay so easy to read that even a 10-year-old could completely understand what you’re saying, you’re guaranteeing that an Ivy AO won’t either. Take the time to edit your writing down, so it is simple. Simple to read, but definitely not simple to write. It takes more humility than most people have but that’s what will get you into an Ivy League college. We’ve guided dozens of students and families through building competitive college applications, from shaping standout essays to developing meaningful capstone projects and balanced school lists. If you want a clear, personalized strategy for your teen, schedule a consultation with our team today. The link is in our bio. 🔗 Reminder: Do NOT rely on AI to write your papers or college essays. Admissions officers are evaluating your thinking, your voice, and your depth of insight. The ideas and substance must come from you. AI can support brainstorming or refinement, but it can’t replace your lived experiences, reasoning, or authenticity.

I’ve read hundreds of personal statements at this point… The personal statements that stand out usually have four very specific elements: 1️⃣ First, the opening starts with a real habit or behavior, not a theme. Instead of telling me you care about language, leadership, or growth, it shows me something you actually do repeatedly in your life. 2️⃣ Second, by around 150–200 words, there’s clear tension. Without it, the essay usually reads like a reflection with no story. 3️⃣ Third, the turning point isn’t always a win. In strong essays, it’s the moment where the student isn’t sure if they’re doing the right thing yet. Maybe they’re helping someone and feeling conflicted about it, or realizing that something they thought was positive has a cost. 4️⃣ Finally, strong conclusions are short and grounded, and they show how the student now views the same situation differently than they did at the beginning. There isn’t a perfect topic for a personal statement. What matters is how specific you get and how clearly your thinking has changed. #UltimateIvyLeagueGuide #UltimateMentor #UILG

I got into EVERY college I applied to and $300k in scholarships, including a full ride to Vanderbilt. Want to know how? 👇 If you’re a good student, but haven’t earned crazy awards, it often comes down to your essay. If you want to write an essay that goes in the “yes” pile, you have to write an essay with strategy, not just a good story. So many people write decent essays, but many fail to write essays that effectively demonstrate their unique value as a student. And that’s why colleges have no incentive to admit those students—they need to see what you’re bringing to the table. I used a special process while writing my essays to create essays that demonstrated my value as a student…every single time. And that’s why I got into every school—my essays did the convincing for me. 📌 I’ve written a FULL breakdown of my strategy, including a copy of my REAL Common App essay that got me into every college, so that you can see how it’s done—comment “ESSAY” to get it. (NOTE: MUST be following, or else Instagram won’t let me DM you!) AND for personalized, detailed, and live help with your essay, sign up for a 1:1 college essay coaching session! 👇 Don’t know what to write your essay about? ✅ I help students come up with both a topic for their essay and a FULL outline for their first draft that includes all the details that colleges should know about them. Already have an essay draft? ✅ I fully revise students’ essays during our session, fixing grammatical errors, removing boring parts, and implementing my foolproof strategy throughout so that the essay gets great results. If you’re ready to become one of the 1,000+ students who has upgraded their essay game by getting 1:1 coaching, book a call through the link in my bio. Let’s get to work. 💪 #collegeadmissions #collegeessays #collegeessaycoach
