TEP customers are paying for the power that TEP will supply to Beale for the Project Blue Data center. Beale does not have a customer lined up, so if they build this thing it will be an empty data center. Beale will need backup power, and this may come from diesel, which causes huge amounts of air pollution and will harm nearby residents. We wouldn’t trust these guys to competently build a bookshelf from IKEA… so why are our elected officials giving them the permission to build a hyperscale data center that will require a city’s worth of electric power? Let the Marana Town Council know that voting for a hyperscale data center this size is a horrible idea and that you’re against it BEFORE their meeting on January 6th. We need to pressure them so they know that if they vote for this, they’ll lose public support on a large scale. -You can call councilmembers and leave a message, or you can write emails.
