Do you know the difference between DirectX and OpenGL normal maps? 🤔 💡 Normal maps simulate small surface details without adding geometry. But DirectX and OpenGL handle the Y-axis differently: 👉 DirectX Normal Maps: Y-axis (Green channel) points down Typically use left-handed coordinate system Green areas on the normal map might look darker. 👉 OpenGL Normal Maps: Y-axis (Green channel) points up Uses a right-handed coordinate system Green areas usually appear lighter. 🎯 Why it matters: If you use the wrong format in your engine or shader, lighting will look off—like bumps are inverted. You can fix this by inverting the green channel if needed.

🖌️블렌더에서 회화적인 스타일의 텍스쳐 만드는 방법. 🎨 [노말맵 텍스쳐링] 1. UV가 펼쳐진 오브젝트를 준비합니다. 2. Face Orientation을 확인해 뒤집힌 노말이 없는지 점검합니다. 3.새 Image Texture를 생성합니다. Image Texture의 Color Space 는 반드시 Non-color 로 설정해주세요. 4.렌더 엔진을 Cycles로 변경합니다. 5. 아래 Bake 탭에서 Bake Type을 Normal, Space를 Object로 설정합니다. 6. 오브젝트와 Image Texture를 선택한 후 Bake를 실행합니다. 7. Material Output에 연결해보면, 노말 맵이 텍스쳐에 베이크된 것을 확인할 수 있습니다. 7. 오른쪽 N 패널의 Node 탭에서 이미지를 저장합니다. 이왕이면 Pack Image까지 눌러 블렌더 파일 안에 포함시킵니다. 8. 다시 렌더 엔진을 Eevee로 변경합니다. (Cycle로 해도 상관은 없습니다만, 개인적으로 이 스타일은 EEVEE가 더 예쁘게 나오는 것 같아요) 9. Texture Paint Mode로 전환합니다. 10. Shift + X를 누른채로 마우스를 오브젝트에 가져다대면, 현재 선택된 텍스쳐의 색상을 가져올 수 있습니다. 11. 주변 색상을 같은 톤으로 칠한 다음, 다시 옆부분을 샘플링해서 주변을 칠하는 것을 반복합니다. 12. 이왕이면 실제 그림 레퍼런스를 참고하며, 토폴로지의 흐름을 따라 텍스쳐를 칠해주면 조금 더 자연스러운 결과를 얻을 수 있습니다. 13. Smear Brush등을 사용해 작은 디테일들을 추가해줍니다. 영상에서 사용된 브러쉬 에셋은 Noggi 의 The Artist’s Essentials입니다. https://blendermarket.com/products/the-artists-essentials-brushes 14. 텍스쳐링이 끝났다면, 반드시 이미지를 저장합니다. 16. 열심히 만든 텍스쳐에 Normal Map 노드를 연결합니다. 17. 노드를 Object Space로 설정한 뒤, 메터리얼의 Normal 소켓에 연결해줍니다. 18. 노말 맵이 잘 적용된 것을 볼 수 있습니다. [색상 베리에이션] 19. 보다 풍부한 색감을 위해 색 베리에이션을 추가해보겠습니다. 20. 조금 전 만든 텍스쳐를 Color Ramp 노드에 연결하고, Color mode를 HSV로 설정합니다. 21. 색상을 Red 100% 로 지정합니다. 22. 그라디언트 바를 Ctrl + 클릭하면 마커가 생깁니다. 여러번 클릭해서 잘게 나누어 주고, Distribute Stops Evenly옵션을 클릭해서 균등하게 배열합니다. 23. Color interpolation을 Far로 바꾸면 수많은 컬러 스펙트럼이 만들어집니다. 이 스펙트럼은 각 브러쉬의 획마다 다른 색상을 보여주게 됩니다. 24. 이렇게 만들어진 텍스쳐를 기존 모델링에 있던 텍스쳐(없다면 단일 색상)와 Mix Color 노드를 이용해 Overlay 모드로 혼합해줍니다. 슬라이더를 낮추어 아주 약간만 영향을 받도록 설정합니다. 25. 마지막으로 적당한 색 조명을 넣어주면, 회화적인 느낌을 더 강조할 수 있습니다.

This combination of solidify, bevel and edge split modifier allows you to make panel cut details using marked sharp edges that you can just add or remove in a whim. The Creative Flow add-on in Blender lets you do this using just a few steps and has been able to do this for the longest time as well.
