I walked upstairs to see Jayne getting ready. She was listening to @megmoroney , was putting on make up, and getting ready for the night in the cutest dress. 🥰 It got me thinking just how much she is like her big sister, Elle, and her little sister, Millie. Jayne likes to do a lot of the same things and she wants a lot of the same things. She wants to get good grades, go to college, have a job, develop her talents, hang out with friends, go to football games and dances and just be loved for who she is!☺️ We are more alike than different and we all want to be included!💕 Also, I love that she has a little note from Millie on her mirror that says “love you Jayne” and a picture of Jesus. 🥹 #downsyndrome #nothingdownaboutit #theluckyfew #inclusion #downsyndromeawareness

My beautiful daughter has Down syndrome 💙 And from the very beginning, she has been teaching the world how wrong its assumptions are. At just 9 months old, she already understands two languages. She’s been mimicking words in both Polish and English since she was 4 months old. Not because she’s “an exception”… but because people with Down syndrome are far more diverse, capable, and complex than outdated stereotypes allow. Not everyone with Down syndrome looks the same. Not everyone develops the same. And no one deserves to be reduced to a diagnosis. In many countries, prenatal Down syndrome diagnoses are met with immediate pressure to terminate. Families are told “I’m sorry” instead of “Congratulations.” That narrative is harmful, outdated, and deeply rooted in misinformation. There is nothing tragic about loving a child with Down syndrome. There is nothing to apologize for. Just look at her. 💫 💛💙 March 21 (3/21) is World Down Syndrome Day — representing the 3 copies of the 21st chromosome. It’s hard to explain, but when they are together it heals a fear that was born the day she was. Would she feel connected to her peers? Would she ever feel chosen outside of her family? Would she have friends? As in, genuine friendships. Where both sides crave each others’ company the same. The way we all hope to feel in a friendship. No favors. No one half being praised for including the other. No coordinating on my end. No imbalance. Authentic. And I know it won’t just be @my.cooperman over the years. There will be more. And many with Down Syndrome, but also many without. But Cooper has been the first. And they know each other. You can sense it when they are together, their connection. My heart needed Cooper and Rosie. And I’m so grateful for the gift their friendship has been so early in this journey. #downsyndrome #nothingdownaboutit #disability #friendshipgoals #theluckyfew

Jayne was so excited and nervous to ask Jordan @more_of_jord_xtra to the high school Sweethearts dance.🥰We kept offering ideas for how to ask him and what to say on the poster, but she said it had to be hersheys chocolate because that’s his favorite☺️ I wrote the words she wanted in pencil and then she colored it all and was very specific about how she wanted it all laid out on her doorstep!👏 She was nervous but of course he said yes and gave her the cutest hug. These two have the sweetest bond! I am so glad they are friends and have each other!
