A common mistake we see is blending Change of Direction (COD) and explosive training into conditioning sessions. This approach can compromise the effectiveness of your training program. Key 🔑 Points to Remember 1. High Intent, High Output:Each rep should be performed with maximum effort and precision. This ensures that athletes are developing true power and speed. 2. Longer Recovery Times:To maximize performance and adaptations, longer rest periods are essential. This allows the body to fully recover and be ready for the next high-intensity effort. Aim for recovery times aligned with output – typically 2 to 3 minutes between short work sets. 3. Proper Hydration: Keeping athletes well-hydrated is crucial for maintaining performance and reducing the risk of injury. Encourage regular water intake before, during, and after training sessions. 4. Decompression: Before starting the next set, ensure athletes decompress physically. Mentally make adjustments and calibrate 🚩Avoid Common Mistakes: - Don’t turn COD and explosive training into endurance conditioning. This dilutes the purpose and reduces the effectiveness of both types of training. - Avoid insufficient rest periods. Athletes need adequate recovery to produce maximum power in subsequent efforts.
