SASeeing New York City Ballet's production of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker® is a magical experience for audiences, but it is especially magical for the SAB students performing all the children's roles in the ballet. Most New Yorkers know that every child on stage — from the littlest Angel to the tallest Candy Cane— is a current student at the School of American Ballet. But did you know that several of the Company members today were once SAB students dancing those same delightful children's roles?
Just before opening night, SAB alumna and current NYCB company member Rommie Tomasini sat down to chat with the two SAB students performing the role of Marie in this year's production. Ms. Tomasini danced the role of Marie for two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013, so she had plenty of advice for SAB students Dessa and Ella! Watch their heartwarming conversation and see them sparkle on stage in George Balanchine's The Nutcracker® through January 3.
