Why Ryuichi Kihara carries Riku Miura off the ice after competitions. Fans have nicknamed it the “Kihara Delivery.” After winning Japan’s first Olympic pairs gold at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Games, Riku Miura was once again lifted off the podium by partner Ryuichi Kihara, a gesture that has become a fan-favorite symbol of their trust and teamwork. Japanese media reports say Kihara began carrying Miura off podiums and uneven surfaces as a precaution to help prevent falls, as Miura sometimes trips easily once she steps off the rink. The moment has since taken on a life of its own 📽️Video by: Gabe Jung 🤳Click our linkinbio to sign up to our daily newsletter. 📰Follow us for the latest Asian News @NextShark #news #reel #figureskating #olympics #winterolympics #milanocortina2026 #teamjapan #pairs #goldmedal #olympicgold #iceskating #skatinglife #athletelife #sportsnews #asiansports #japannews #olympicchampions #podiummoment #teamwork #trust #viralmoment #kiharadelivery #sportsstory #olympichistory #champions #wintergames #skatingpartners #fanfavorite #heartwarming #sportsupdate

🎥 The video above shows the 1960 Olympic Games – Men’s 100m Freestyle final. 🥇 Gold – John Devitt (Australia) – 55.2 🥈 Silver – Lance Larson (USA) – 55.2 🥉 Bronze – Jeffrey Farrell (USA) – 55.6 This race is remembered as one of the most dramatic moments in Olympic swimming history. Why? Because the finish between 1st and 2nd place was incredibly close. Both swimmers touched almost at the same time, and even with identical official times, the winner was decided by judges — not by modern precision timing. It created controversy that is still discussed today. And when you compare it to today’s swimming, the differences are huge. Back then, there were no anti-wave lane lines to control turbulence. No modern starting blocks with back plates (ledge) to improve start power. No wave-reducing pool design or optimized gutters. No underwater video analysis. No touchpads or ultra-precise electronic timing systems. It was pure racing in very “raw” conditions — where water movement, lane turbulence, and even judging could influence the result. Today, swimming is completely transformed. Every detail is optimized: start, turn, underwater phase, and finish are analyzed with technology and science to maximize performance. So the question is: What do you think has been the biggest technological advancement in swimming performance of all time? Write bellow in the comments.
