1️⃣. Directly apply to programs that take international medical graduates from your home country (with visa sponsorship) by cold mailing the program coordinators (some of them might even give an audition rotation). When I attend a few conferences, programs were eager to give audition rotations to applicants because it’s their best way to assess if the candidate is a good fit and if you perform as per standards. It’s almost a guaranteed interview with them. Programs would rather give an interview with someone they know and they worked with rather than a nameless applicant. Some programs give for free. Some programs charge a fee. I would say cold mail to all your short listed programs and choose the program that fits your credentials. If your score is 230 and the program’s average Step 2 score is 260, no point doing audition rotations with such programs. Use free tools like Residency Explorer to find programs that fit your credentials and find mail IDs on FREIDA or the redesigned explorer. No need to get paid services websites—Residency Explorer and FREIDA combination is more than enough and literally no other paid website is worth the money. I wasted money getting paid websites. Important warning: It’s also a guaranteed rejection if you f. up. So only do auditions at programs you are genuinely ready for. 2️⃣. Walking into clinics and private practices and asking if you could do a rotation with them. More often than not you will get it for free. You just have to cover your living expenses. But this requires a lot of trial and errors. And you can get a clinic letterhead LoRs. This is almost always not possible with hospitals. 3️⃣. Through agencies - last resort and only if you are running short on time and need an LoR with no hassle. Don’t pay more than 1.5k USD for any rotations. Just not worth it. Regardless of whether you are rotating with PD or APD. And usually around 5-20 people can rotate with you, which means the preceptor cannot get to know you well. Also generic LoRs and a lot of applicants from the same preceptor can all not really add value to your CV. Continued in comments ⬇️ #usmlestep1 #usmle #medical #usmlestep2 #doctor

Choosing a Dental Fellowship Instead of MDS? Here’s Why It Makes Sense for Many Dentists: Not every dentist wants to go down the traditional MDS route , and that’s completely okay. In today’s fast-paced clinical world, fellowships have become a smart, focused, and skill-driven alternative to postgraduation. Here’s what makes dental fellowships worth considering ⬇️ ✅ Specialized, Practical Training Most fellowships are designed to offer intensive hands-on learning, whether it’s in implants, esthetics, lasers, or endo. You don’t just learn the theory, you perform it. ✅ Shorter Duration, Quicker ROI Fellowships are usually 3–12 months long, making them ideal for dentists who want to enter private practice, freelancing, or clinical setups without losing 3 years. ✅ Cost-Effective Compared to MDS, fellowships are more affordable while still offering industry-recognized certifications and clinical experience. ✅ Global Opportunities Many fellowships, especially those with international affiliations, open doors to global dental systems and increase your chances of working/studying abroad. ✅ Focused Career Building Want to build a niche in implants or facial aesthetics? A fellowship gives you that laser-sharp focus and can become the USP of your practice. 📌 Bottom line: An MDS is a great option, but it’s not the only one. A well chosen fellowship can give you the confidence, skillset, and income to thrive as a modern dentist. 🎯 Explore your options. Align them with your goals. And choose what’s right for YOU.
