Пока в дистриктах бьются за очки и престиж, в Капитолии разыграли миллион австралийских долларов на новом развлечении.
One Point Slam – оперативный турнирчик, в котором сыграли 24 звезды из мира тенниса. Ещё 24 участника добрали по разным показателям: знаменитости и приглашенные гости, победители-любители предыдущих раундов чемпионата штата, проведённых по всей Австралии в 2025 году, а также игроки, которые проходят квалификацию в Мельбурне.
Для победы в матче нужно было выиграть лишь один розыгрыш. И веселье удалось, масса мемов, забавных моментов и неожиданный победитель – товарищ Смит, который к теннису имеет отношение и даже выступал на фьючерсах, но вряд ли когда-то мечтал о победе на турнире с такими топами.

MAFour-time Grand Slam finalist Jannik Sinner suffered a surprising defeat at the hands of an amateur player at the One Point Slam, held this week at Melbourne Park ahead of the Australian Open.
The tournament, which began on Wednesday, features 48 participants, including 24 professional tennis stars such as Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek, and Sinner himself. The remaining spots are filled by amateur competitors, state championship winners, Melbourne qualifiers, and a number of wildcard entrants, including celebrities and invited personalities.
Each match in the One Point Slam is decided by a single point. A game of “rock, paper, scissors” determines who serves, and the winner of the point progresses to the next round, making for unpredictable and high-stakes encounters.
In one of the tournament’s biggest shocks, world number seven Felix Auger-Aliassime was defeated by amateur Alec Reverente. Reverente’s run ended in the following round, however, as he fell to WTA star McCartney Kessler.
Sinner, the heavy favourite in his draw, was also eliminated by an amateur, Jordan Smith, after a costly double fault handed Smith a stunning victory.
The event, with a $1 million Australian dollar prize for the winner, has already proven that in this unique format, even the top-ranked players are vulnerable to early upsets.

Et bah ce mec là l’a fait ce matin lors du One Point Slam, un tournoi organisé par l’Open d’Australie ou des amateurs s’étaient qualifiés pour défier les meilleurs joueurs du monde sur un point, pour tenter de remporter 1 million de dollars. Et le conte de fées a eu lieu parce que Jordan Smith, un joueur amateur australien, a réalisé l’exploit en faisant le tournoi parfait.
En 8es de finale, il a profité de la règle qui ne donnait qu’un seul service au pro pour écarter Sinner et ainsi créer la première sensation. Derrière, il a écarté la 3e mondiale Anisimova en profitant d’une balle un peu longue, puis s’est qualifié en finale après avoir tenu l’échange avec le 72e joueur mondial Pablo Martinez avant de le faire craquer. Et en finale, il était opposé à la 117e mondiale, Joanna Garland !
Mais sur cette finale que personne n’avait vu venir, elle s’est déchirée en revers et a offert à Jordan Smith le trophée et surtout le gros chèque qui va avec. 1 million de dollars australien, ce qui correspond à 600.000€, qui vont changer sa vie, et on retiendra la réussite de ce One Point Slam. Divertissement, enjeu, mise en valeur du tennis féminin, et scénario complètement fou : cet Open d’Australie est parfaitement lancé
