The Concept A digital render is a frictionless void. It lies about tension, weight, and structure. Physical space demands friction. Before a spatial installation reaches the fabrication floor, it must survive the cutting mat. Build small to fail fast. The blade slicing through cardboard exposes the structural truths that a 3D model hides. If the geometry cannot support itself on a desk, it will collapse under its own weight on a site. Form finding requires physical resistance. The Computation Grasshopper generates infinite complexity in milliseconds. But code cannot feel material stress (arguably pseudo physics). We write parametric scripts to rationalize doubly curved surfaces and automate precise CNC toolpaths. Then we step away from the monitor. We force the algorithm into physical constraints. Bending a scaled paper prototype tests the exact structural nodes the script just calculated. It is a continuous feedback loop between computational logic and material reality. We script the geometry. We trust the physical friction.
