How to Dry Ethiopian Opals⚒ Ethiopian Opals are soft hence they break when exposed to an extreme temperature change. Here are 3 ways to dry Opals and bring back its fire a.k.a Play of Colours. Method 1 (Takes about 6 days): Place Ethiopian Opals around your window to allow them to aborb some indirect day light. Just make sure they are not under direct sunlight since it can break or crack your Opals. You want them to dry slowly to avoid any damage. Method 2 (3 days): Wrap your Opals inside a few folds of newspaper! Yes, Newspapers work perfectly well to absorb all the moisture and water. It also protects them from direct impact of light which can break your opals (Insider info - We store our Opals wrapped in a newspaper too!) Next, keep them where there is plenty of sunlight (not direct) for a few days. Method 3 (6 hours): NOT RECOMMENDED. Major possibility of breaking your Opals! Dry your Opals for few hours. Make sure they are 100% Dry before beginning the next step. Wrap them in many folds of newspaper and keep them under soft warm light for 15-20 minutes. Make sure the distance between the Opals and the warm light is atleast 2 ft. Warm lamp will quicken the process of drying and bring back its natural colors. Since we produce large amount of Opals daily, we use a fraction of 3rd method to dry Opals quickly after cutting and polishing them. Have a great day! #LabradoriteKing
