This is the day where backend development starts to feel real. Today I learned how the Model (Entity) layer represents our database tables. Each entity class directly maps to a table, and every field maps to a column. This is how Spring Boot understands what data we store and how it should be structured. I also explored application.properties, which acts like the control room of a Spring Boot application. From database connection details to JPA and Hibernate behavior, everything is managed from this single file. One important concept I learned today is: spring.jpa.hibernate.ddl-auto=update This helps Hibernate automatically update the database schema based on changes in the Entity classesβ€”without losing existing data. It makes development faster and easier, especially when you are learning or building projects. Key takeaways from Day 8: Model layer = data + database mapping Entities define tables and columns application.properties controls application behavior ddl-auto=update keeps database and code in sync This day helped me clearly understand how data flows from code to database in Spring Boot.
