عائلة ثرية جداً، تعيش في منزل فخم من تصميم مهندس شهير، لكنهم "سذج" لدرجة تجعلهم يصدقون أي شخص يدخل حياتهم. تسلسل الأحداث بدون حرق كامل البداية (الاختراق): يبدأ ابن عائلة "كيم" الفقيرة بتزوير شهادات جامعية ليعمل مدرساً للغة الإنجليزية لابنة العائلة الغنية.
خطة السيطرة بذكاء مكرر ، يبدأ الابن بسحب أفراد عائلته واحداً تلو الآخر للعمل في ذلك المنزل الأخت كمدرسة فنون، الأب كسائق والأم كخادمة وذلك عبر طرد الموظفين القدامى بمؤامرات خبيثة،
دون أن تعرف العائلة الغنية أنهم جميعاً أقارب! نقطة التحول في ليلة ممطرة، وبينما العائلة الغنية خارج المنزل، تكتشف عائلة "كيم" سراً مرعباً في سرداب المنزل يغير مجرى الأحداث تماماً.
النهاية ينفجر التوتر الطبقي في مشهد ختامي دموي وغير متوقع، يتركك تتساءل: من هو الطفيلي الحقيقي في هذه القصة؟ لماذا يستحق هذا الفيلم وقتك؟ الرمزية: الفيلم يستخدم "الرائحة" و"الدرج" كرموز للفرق بين الفقير والغني.
