WAYeeeeesssss!!! Love this. As someone who lives in the “in between” - not fully extroverted or introverted and often termed an extroverted introvert, there’s a new definition for this - OTROVERT.
I don’t believe any of us need to be placed in definitive boxes, as no one 100% fits in one. But, as long as labels and boxes exist, it’s nice to see the scope expanding. And it allows us to understand ourselves and one another a little better.
Do any of you align more comfortably with this new definition?
Key Traits of an Otrovert:
✨Independence
They do not have a strong need to belong to a group or “pack” and often feel like an observer.
✨Selective Socializing
They prefer deep, one-on-one relationships over group socializing, often skipping, but managing, group events.
✨”Otherness”
They are comfortable acting independently of popular trends, often feeling a sense of “otherness” or being “sideways” to the norm.
✨Empathetic & Observant
They are not shy but are often quiet observers who bring a unique, independent viewpoint.
✨Not Anti-Social: They can be charming and socially active, but they do not feel the urge for “group allegiance”.
This trait is about finding the “gift of not belonging” and thriving by embracing, rather than forcing, a sense of individuality.
