Lot.401 4本針セットインスリーブスウェット
吊り編み機で仕立てた生地は、繋ぎ糸に細番手を使用し、タテの目が強く出る仕様。洗うことで表面のケバも取れてより目が強調される。また糸は片方向に撚られた単糸を使用しているため、洗濯をすることで斜行するなど、まさにヴィンテージならではの仕様。
デニムやネルシャツと同じでカタチを似せるために表面だけなぞるのではなく、風合いや着心地など本質まで追求。
肉感のある生地と独特のフェードした色合い、またタテに筋が入るように目が立った表面など、ヴィンテージスウェットそのもの。それを生み出す上で、絶対に欠かせないのが、吊り編み機。
吊り編み機には約1000本のニードルが並び、これに糸が掛けられ周りながら編まれていく。
複雑にギアが入り組みかなり精密な吊り編み機。
ゆっくり回転するイメージが実際に見ると意外と速く高速織機より生産効率は遅いが、糸が消費される速度は高いというのが旧き良きモノづくりの特徴の一つ
後は破裂強度の差。
吊り編みの方は生地が縦にも横にも自由に伸びるからその分破れにくいのに対して高速織機は縦方向しか伸びないため、横に強い力をかけると破れやすい。
吊り編み機で編んだ生地の特徴は筒状に編まれた生地で、生地自体の重みで編み下げていく方式。
そのため糸にテンションを加えずに編めるため”空気を含みながら編む。
仕上がった生地はふわりと柔らかく温かみも感じられる丈夫な1着となる。
裏起毛
コットンフリースと呼ばれた裏面の起毛
ウールのような保温性を高める効果を持つ裏面の起毛処理。
編み上がった後に筒のまま丸起毛と呼ばれる工程で施され、その後染色工程へと移る。
起毛は着こむほどに摩擦と洗濯で束ねられ、油脂も抜けてタオルケットのような肌触りになるのが特徴。
定番でありながらこの着心地、品質の安定を守っている作り込みは凄いの一言に尽きる。
