Most mums in survival mode don’t realise they’re in it… They just think: “I’m tired.” “It’s just a busy season.” “Once things slow down I’ll be fine.” I was in that mode for years until I realised... The truth is… Survival mode feels like carrying a huge mental load all day long. Thinking about the next thing. And the next thing. And the next thing. Even when you sit down… your brain is still running. Lunchboxes. School emails. Dinner. Work. Laundry. Appointments. Everything. And somewhere inside you’re thinking: If I stop… everything will fall apart. I know that feeling. The constant pressure. The exhaustion you can’t sleep off. The snapping at the people you love. The brain that never switches off. And I’m curious about something… If you had a magic wand 🪄 What is the ONE thing you would want to change in your life right now? Not ten things. Just one. Would it be: • feeling calmer in your body • switching off your mind at night • having more energy • not snapping at your kids • feeling like yourself again 👇 Comment the ONE thing you would wish for.

I am in a period of survival mode… but here are the things I’m doing to make sure this season is short and burnout stays well back. For context: my kids are waking me at least 10 x a night, I have exhaustion and illness weighing on me like a tonne of bricks, I still have a business to run, it’s Xmas and my car has been having my life for the last 2 weeks. As a mum to two toddlers I’m not adverse to periods of survival mode- but here’s what I’ve learned to do to make sure I keep burnout and breakdown at bay 🫶🏻 If you’re a toddler mum who is ready to move through survival mode with support- comment or dm me the word ‘RISE’ & let’s chat #toddlermum #mumcommunity #overwhelmedmum #mumburnout #survivalmode

Want to know if you're in survival mode, too? ⭐️ Follow @iamkristenlambert as I coach myself out of it and see if any of what I'm experiencing resonates with you! Here is my list of symptoms (so to speak). Let me know if you relate to any of them. 💣 SIGNS YOU'RE STUCK IN SURVIVAL MODE: - Doomscrolling to the point of exhaustion - Dehydration - Going to bed super late - Craving sugar - Constantly tired & fatigued - Poor posture - Tight jaw, shoulders, hips and feet - Unwanted acne - Lack of focus on important tasks - Lack of motivation - Poor memory recall - Pleasure seeking habits - Unable to just "get it done" - Poor eating habits - Brain fog - Easily startled - Dirty house - Constantly behind on chores - Disconnected from my body - Shallow breathing - Unwanted negative thoughts 🌪️ As a homeschooling mom of three boys who also works as a Christian Women's Minister, survival mode isn't working out well for me. 😅 So I've given myself 2 weeks to coach my way out of it and live life better for myself, my husband, my kids and my God. Will it work? ✨ Follow @iamkristenlambert to find out and cheer me on along the way!

I built a whole life while barely breathing. That’s what survival mode does to you💔⬇️ At the time, I didn’t see it like that. I thought I was just getting through a difficult period. Handling what needed to be handled. Doing what any parent would do. So I kept going. One problem to the next✔️ One responsibility to the next✔️ Always telling myself things would slow down soon✔️ But they didn’t. And the strangest part is how normal it started to feel. Running on empty💔 Living in constant pressure💔 Functioning without ever really switching off💔 From the outside, it probably looked like I was holding everything together. But inside, I was just coping. Just surviving another day It wasn’t until things slowed down that I really saw it. 👉🏼How many decisions were made while overwhelmed. 👉🏼How much of my life was built in a state of stress. 👉🏼How long I’d been living like that without questioning it. That was the hardest part to sit with. Not just how heavy it was… but how long it lasted. What I’ve learned is that survival mode doesn’t always look like chaos. Sometimes it looks like functioning, coping and “managing”. Until one day you realise you haven’t actually felt like yourself in a long time. That’s why I talk so much about survival mode, nervous system overwhelm, and the emotional weight of medical motherhood, because this kind of stress doesn’t just pass… it can quietly become your whole life. If you’ve ever felt like you’ve been holding everything together for far too long, follow @bravely_together This space is for the parts of this life people only recognise once they finally slow down ❤️‍🩹

You didn’t suddenly get restless. You finally got space. For years, your work had to fit around family life. School runs. Clubs. Assemblies. The mental load. So you chose roles that were sensible. Flexible. Manageable. Ones that didn’t ask too much of you — because you didn’t have much spare to give. And that was the right call at the time. But now your children are older. They need you differently. You’ve got thinking space again. And suddenly the job that once worked feels… small. Not because it’s bad. But because you’ve outgrown it. Especially when you look at the effort you give versus the money it pays versus the experience you bring. That discomfort isn’t ingratitude. It’s awareness. Awareness that this stage of life might need a different kind of work. Work that still fits around real life — but also stretches you again. Work that pays properly. Work that feels aligned, not just acceptable. You don’t need to rush. You don’t need to blow anything up. And you don’t need to have all the answers yet. But if this feeling keeps tapping you on the shoulder, it’s probably worth listening. If you’re quietly thinking about what’s next, follow along.

No one prepares you for how disorienting it feels when survival mode ends and you realise you don’t get unlimited time 🫩⬇️ I thought relief after survival mode would feel obvious, like a weight lifting, like FINALLY being able to breathe. But it didn’t 🫠🫠🫠 It felt quiet, unsettling and completely uncomfortable. Because when you’re no longer stuck in survival mode, when your nervous system isn’t in constant fight-or-flight, you start noticing things you didn’t have the capacity to feel before 💔 👉🏼 How fast the years actually moved. 👉🏼 How much of yourself you put on hold. 👉🏼 How many decisions you made just to cope with burnout and chronic stress. Survival mode narrows your focus. It convinces you that “getting through the day” is enough 😣 And for a while… it is. When you’re in burnout, when you’re living in chronic stress, survival mode becomes your personality. Until one day you realise life didn’t pause while you were surviving. Time kept moving, you just weren’t fully in it. That’s the part no one talks about 😬🤯 💔 The aftermath of survival mode. 💔 The post-survival identity shift. 💔 The grief for the version of you that tolerated too much. 💔 The confusion when things are finally calm… but you don’t know who you are without the chaos or chronic stress. Most women think surviving was the hard part. It wasn’t, rebuilding after survival mode is and most people completely misinterpret that post-survival phase. If you’re starting to feel that quiet “what now?” after burnout, chronic stress, or years stuck in survival mode, you’re exactly who I create content for. Follow me @paige_spaven if you’re in your post-survival era. Because the next stage isn’t about healing harder, it’s about rebuilding differently after survival mode and I’m going to keep talking about that part.

Your season feels brutal because there’s no immediate feedback 😅 We have quiet hope it will make sense later. I’ve realised something travelling with my daughter, we’re wired for quick fixes now. I even caught myself counting the days since we last had a “regulated” day. Our generation asks ourselves 20–50 parenting questions a day, wild, I know! These aren’t little questions either, they are the big ones. Is this normal? Should I step in? Is this a boundary or a power struggle? Did I mess that up? Is this my stuff or theirs? Wake ups. Meals. Leaving the house. Bedtime. Each transition = another internal audit. We have more information than any generation before us with more choice and less certainty. Less village and self-monitoring, straight to social media to look for a solution, something relatable to ease the overwhelm. Our parents followed scripts and we’re trying to write them, it’s big big work! And here’s the hard part, there’s no scoreboard yet, our children are still children and we are simply trying to figure it out! We won’t see the impact for years. So if it feels heavy, it’s because you’re thinking deeply and doing your best work yet 💓 Grace is trusting delayed results, giving yourself a hug, reminding yourself that you’re safe with one day at a time. #solomumsuperhero #solomums #singlemummylife
