Pangaea: Pangaea or Pangea (/pænˈdʒiːə/ pan-JEE-ə) was a supercontinent that existed during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras. It assembled from the earlier continental units of Gondwana, Euramerica and Siberia during the Carboniferous approximately 335 million years ago, and began to break apart about 200 million years ago, at the end of the Triassic and beginning of the Jurassic. Pangaea was C-shaped, with the bulk of its mass stretching between Earth's northern and southern polar regions and surrounded by the superocean Panthalassa and the Paleo-Tethys and subsequent Tethys Oceans. Pangaea is the most recent supercontinent to have existed and the first to be reconstructed by geologists. The geography of the continents bordering the Atlantic Ocean was the first evidence suggesting the existence of Pangaea. The seemingly close fit of the coastlines of North and South America with Europe and Africa was remarked on almost as soon as these coasts were charted. Careful reconstructions showed that the mismatch at the 500 fathoms (3,000 feet; 910 meters) contour was less than 130 km (81 mi), and it was argued that this was much too similar to be attributed to coincidence. Additional evidence for Pangaea is found in the geology of adjacent continents, including matching geological trends between the eastern coast of South America and the western coast of Africa. The polar ice cap of the Carboniferous covered the southern end of Pangaea. Glacial deposits, specifically till, of the same age and structure are found on many separate continents that would have been together in the continent of Pangaea. The continuity of mountain chains provides further evidence, such as the Appalachian Mountains chain extending from the southeastern United States to the Scandinavian Caledonides of Europe; these are now believed to have formed a single chain, the Central Pangean Mountains. . . #thevoyagerguide #viral #viralreels #map #continent #asia #europe #usa #universe #nasa #space

The Supercontinent That Could Change Everything #mapanimation #internationalaffairs #hindiexplanation What If The World's Continents Smashed Back Together? What would happen if the world's original supercontinent, Pangaea, came back? This video explores a mind-bending alternate reality where Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas crash back together. Discover how sea levels would plummet and how peaceful oceans that once separated nations would be gone, creating new land borders between countries that were once worlds apart. This isn't just a new map—it's a new world with new conflicts. #pangaea #geography #whatif #supercontinent #geopolitics #worldfacts #zealandia #sciencememes #explained #map #gkfacts #india

This map shows today’s country borders overlaid on Pangea, illustrating how continents have shifted over millions of years due to tectonic forces, eventually forming the world as we know it. Pangea was a supercontinent that existed around 300 million years ago, combining almost all of Earth’s landmasses into one. - #pangea #map

DID YOU KNOW THE PACIFIC OCEAN IS DISAPPEARING? 😱🌊📉 It sounds impossible, but the largest ocean on Earth is literally shrinking by 2-5 centimeters every single year. The culprit? The Ring of Fire. 🔥 This zone contains 75% of the world’s active volcanoes and 80% of all earthquakes. Because of tectonic plates colliding, the Pacific floor is sliding underneath other plates in a process called subduction. Meanwhile, the Atlantic Ocean is actually getting BIGGER! 🤯 Scientists predict that in the distant future, a new supercontinent called “Pangaea Proxima” will form, and the Pacific might vanish completely. 🌍💥 👇 What would you name the new supercontinent? #geografia #pangea #geologia #eras #terra

From Pangea to Today: 540 Million Years in 60 Seconds! 🌏 In this video, we're traveling 540 million years into the past to see how the world's continents actually took shape The Timeline: Neoproterozoic/Cambrian (540 Ma): The supercontinent Rodinia was breaking up, while Gondwana was assembling in the Southern Hemisphere. Paleozoic (540–250 Ma): Collision of Gondwana with Laurentia and Baltica, forming the Appalachian-Variscan mountains and assembling the supercontinent Pangea (~300-320 Ma). Mesozoic Breakup (200–65 Ma): Pangea began breaking apart, with the central Atlantic opening around 170 Ma and the South Atlantic opening around 130 Ma. Cenozoic (65 Ma – Present): The final separation of continents, collision of India with Asia (forming the Himalayas), and the closing of the Tethys Ocean. From the rise of mountain ranges to the birth of new oceans, plate tectonics is the engine that shapes our planet's face. 🧩🌍 Video credits: Scotese, C.R., 2016. You keep seeing us for a reason, follow @lulzfile for more (🎥:tt @ur.wweak ) • • Pangaea was a supercontinent that existed roughly 335 to 175 million years ago during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras. Instead of today’s separate landmasses, most of Earth’s continental crust was joined together as one enormous landmass surrounded by a global ocean. Over time, movements within Earth’s mantle caused tectonic plates to shift, and Pangaea began to break apart in a process known as continental drift, a concept later explained by plate tectonics theory. It first split into two major landmasses: Laurasia in the north and Gondwana in the south. These large blocks continued fragmenting over millions of years, gradually forming the continents we recognize today: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and Australia. The movement is extremely slow, only a few centimeters per year, but over vast geological time it reshaped the planet’s surface, influenced ocean currents, altered climate patterns, and played a major role in the evolution and distribution of life across the globe. #memes #explorepage #memestgram #geographymeme #oldearth
