Here’s the hard truth: If your parenting plan says “by agreement” or “the parties will agree,” you’re leaving the door wide open for more conflict. You already know — if you could agree on things, you wouldn’t be here. Instead of vague, feel-good language, make sure your plan is specific, clear, and enforceable. That means: ✅ Exact dates and times for parenting time ✅ Clear decision-making procedures ✅ Defined holiday schedules ✅ Step-by-step process for disputes The more black-and-white your plan is, the less room there is for arguments, manipulation, and stress. Save yourself the headaches later. Get it in writing. Get it in detail. Get it right. 💬 Let me know in the comments what clauses you’re stuck on, and I’ll make a free training to help you get a breakthrough. ⸻ #divorcesupport #coparenting #coparentingwithanarcissist #highconflictdivorce #parentingplan #familycourt #coparentinglife #singlemomlife #divorceadvice #divorceattorney #coparentingproblems #divorcemom #divorcelawyer #highconflictcoparenting #custodybattle #divorcetips #divorcesurvivor #coparentingwin #divorcehelp #familylaw

Living in the same house during a divorce or separation, often called “bird nesting” or “nesting,” can sound like the perfect solution: same home, less disruption for the kids, more stability. But here’s what I often see happen when there’s no clear exit plan: • Month 6: You start dating someone new. Your co-parent isn’t ready for nesting to end. Now what? • Month 9: Your co-parent wants out. You can’t afford your own place yet. Who decides? • Month 12: The house needs major repairs in order to be sold. Who pays? Without an agreed-upon end date or exit plan, nesting can drag on indefinitely, and ending it often leads to disagreement. A clear exit provision prevents this by addressing everything upfront: ✔️ Duration: Specify exactly how long nesting lasts (6 months, 1 year, or a fixed end date) ✔️ Automatic termination triggers: Remarriage or cohabitation, financial hardship, safety concerns, or sale of the home ✔️ Early exit process: Clear notice requirements (30 / 60 / 90 days) ✔️ Housing and asset decisions: Who stays, who leaves, and how the belongings in the home are divided ✔️ Transition timeline for the kids: To ensure changes don’t feel sudden or overwhelming ✔️ Periodic check-ins: Scheduled reviews every month to assess whether nesting is still working Nesting can work, but generally only when it’s temporary with an anticipated end date. Planning for the ending protects your children from chaos later. 📥 Comment NESTING to get access to our on-demand webinar on nesting parenting arrangements and the exact language you can use to create a nesting arrangement that works for your family. He walked into that hearing like he already won. Suit crisp. Shoulders back. Confidence on 100. Meanwhile… she had a folder. And inside that folder? Receipts. Screenshots. Bank statements. Timelines. Proof. Let me tell you something clearly: confidence is not evidence. Being loud is not evidence. Saying “that’s not true” is not evidence. Documentation is evidence. If you are going through a divorce or custody battle, your power is not in arguing harder. Your power is in being prepared. Here are 10 ways to make sure you are: 1. Document in real time. Don’t rely on memory. 2. Use a parenting app. Keep communication in writing. 3. Screenshot and save before messages “disappear.” 4. Keep copies of financial records — all of them. 5. Track overnights and exchanges. 6. Follow every court order to the letter. 7. Build a timeline of events as they happen. 8. Don’t post your drama online. Ever. 9. Organize your evidence before the hearing — not the night before. 10. Listen to your lawyer and play the long game. Family court is not about who feels right. It’s about what can be proven. Patterns matter. Paper trails matter. Credibility matters. He brought confidence. She brought proof. Be the one who brings proof. #CustodyBattle #Receipts #PreparationWins #ParentingPlan #EvidenceMatters
