Post op day 1: partial knee replacement. These videos are from earlier before the nerve block wore off. And before the meds wore off. Somewhat uncomfortable now but trying to deal with it without narcotics or the Lyrica…both of which make me feel terrible. We’ll see how tomorrow goes and whether I need to request different meds. Or just middle through. #pilotingyourlife #partialkneereplacement #kneesurgery #kneesurgeryrecovery #midlifewomen #thrivingover40 #thrivingover50 #midlifemadness

Asked my team how long a partial knee replacement lasts. Got answers ranging from 4 to 45 years 😂 (my 5-year-old had the most confidence.) The real answer? Studies show around 80% survivorship at 20 years — and with robotic-assisted partial knee replacement, some data pushes that closer to 90% at 20 years. That’s not a knee that needs replacing in 7 years. That’s a knee that can last a lifetime for the right patient. 🦴 #PartialKneeReplacement #KneeReplacement #ArthroGuy #JointReplacement #OrthopedicSurgery

Many people struggle with recovery after knee replacement. But after seeing thousands of patients go through it, I’ve noticed that the ones who walk in smiling at follow-up usually share a few things in common: 1️⃣ They wait until the time is right. They have true bone-on-bone arthritis that’s limiting their life. They don’t rush into surgery just to “get it done.” They do it when pain and stiffness are truly keeping them from the things they love. 2️⃣ They have realistic expectations. They know it’s metal on plastic, not the knee they were born with. They know it won’t feel perfect…but it will give them their life back. 3️⃣ They go in with an optimistic mindset. They know they’ll do great, they trust their surgeon, and they focus on progress. They already visualize themselves doing well before the surgery even happens. That positive outlook makes an enormous difference in how they recover. 4️⃣ They surround themselves with support. They don’t try to do it alone. They lean on friends and family, they stay connected, and they keep positive voices around them to keep them strong even when the going gets tough. 5️⃣ They invest in themselves before surgery. They eat well, move their body, get enough sleep, and care for their mental health. They understand surgery is just one part of a bigger process of caring for themselves. 6️⃣ They don’t compare themselves to anyone else. They know recovery isn’t a race. They focus on their own progress, their own timeline, and they celebrate every small win along the way. These are the core traits that unify the patients who recover beautifully…not by luck, but by intention. #kneereplacement #kneereplacementrecovery #kneereplacementsurgery #kneearthritis #kneesurgery #jointreplacement

➡️6 month update on my partial knee replacement⬅️ I’ve come a long ways. Hard to believe a could barely walk up and down the stairs a few months ago. I don’t miss those days, nor do I miss not being able to walk after sitting or sleeping for long periods. I’m thankful for every milestone. I recently started yoga, which has been extremely humbling in flexibility, mobility and weight/pressure on my knee. But I’m thrilled that I can sit cross legged and not hurt🤣 Consistency is hard. But being hurt is harder. It takes patience and grace. Thanks for following along my recovery journey🙏 #nikkisnewknee #partialkneereplacement #kneerehab #keepgoing #fitat50

The two worst mistakes after a knee replacement are surprisingly opposite. Some patients try to do too much, too soon. They push through pain, overtrain, and don’t give the soft tissues time to settle. That can increase swelling, delay recovery, and even affect the final result. Others do the exact opposite. They become afraid to move and stay in bed for too long, which leads to stiffness, muscle weakness, and slower rehabilitation. We don’t recommend bed rest after a knee replacement. We recommend balance. The key is finding the right level of movement for your body, at the right time, with the right guidance. Every recovery is different, and a personalised plan makes all the difference. After thousands of hip and knee replacements, I’ve learned there are five harsh truths that people have a hard time hearing…but they’re critical if you want an amazing result. These might sting a little. But I promise, they come from a place of wanting you to succeed. 1️⃣ Losing weight before surgery is all about your diet. Yes, it’s hard when your body hurts and you can’t be active. But the truth is, weight loss is almost entirely about nutrition. Even if you can barely walk, you can still control what you eat. 2️⃣ Movement is medicine. So many people believe their arthritis came from being too active. But the reality is, most people who develop arthritis get it from not moving enough. Our joints and cartilage stay healthy through load and circulation. If you want to feel better (before and after surgery), you’ve got to move every day. 3️⃣ Surgery is just one hour in a journey of thousands. That single hour in the OR is only the start of your recovery…what happens in the months that follow HUGELY determines your outcome. Your surgeon can replace your joint, but only you can rebuild your body through exercise, mindset, sleep, nutrition, and positivity. Those things make or break recovery just as much as the scalpel. 4️⃣ You control more of your outcome than you realize. The people who recover the best believe they’re in charge of their results and create a reality that guarantees success. They don’t blame circumstances. They focus on what they can control: their attitude, their effort, and their environment. That internal locus of control is one of the strongest predictors of success in surgery, and life. 5️⃣ Stop comparing yourself to others. This one’s big. Comparison steals joy and blinds you to your progress. Be proud of yourself for every step forward, no matter how small! If you take these truths to heart (and act on them), your recovery will transform your life in ways you never imagined!

Big flex? Absolutely. Seeing a patient move this well on Day 1 after knee replacement is not luck—it’s preparation. Most people think rehab starts after surgery. But the smartest recovery begins before surgery with proper prehab. Before the operation, we worked on👇 ✔️ Strengthening surrounding muscles ✔️ Improving knee movement ✔️ Reducing stiffness ✔️ Building walking confidence ✔️ Teaching exercises for post-op recovery ✔️ Preparing the body and mind for surgery So when surgery was done, the body was already ready to respond. That’s why on Day 1 we often see: 👉 Better movement 👉 Faster standing/walking progress 👉 Improved confidence 👉 Easier exercise tolerance 👉 Smoother early recovery phase Prehab doesn’t guarantee a perfect recovery, but it can give patients a huge head start. Many patients wait until after surgery to think about physiotherapy. That delay can cost time, strength, and confidence. 💡 If knee replacement is planned, don’t wait for the surgery date. Use the weeks before surgery to build the best possible outcome. Surgery may replace the joint. Prehab helps prepare the person. DM us if you or your family member is planning knee replacement and wants a smarter recovery plan. 📍 DukhNiwaran Physiotherapy Panipat 📞 7015017485 Get your knee assessed today 💬 DM @dukhniwaranphysio for consultation #kneereplacement #totalkneereplacement #tkrrecovery #prehab

A partial knee replacement can mean a shorter recovery, a more natural-feeling knee, and getting back to an active lifestyle faster than with a total knee. But not everyone is a candidate. In this video, I’ll walk you through exactly what I look for: from where your arthritis is, to how your knee moves, to a few bonus factors that can make a partial knee an even better choice. #kneereplacement #partialkneereplacement #kneesurgery #kneereplacementrecovery #jointreplacement
