HYPhysics and Maths students from Years 12 and 13 enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator, at @cern, the Centre for European Particle Physics Research in Geneva.
The students had a guided tour underground to see one of the LHC's four particle detectors, the Compact Muon Sensor (CMS), explored the CERN Museum and took a look at the Visitor Centre. The trip was a great opportunity to see the first hand application of some of the Particle Physics concepts they have been learning about as part of their A Level Physics course.
Whilst they were in Geneva, they also had the opportunity to take in some of the cultural sites of the city including the Geneva Science Museum, the Old Quarter and Lake Geneva. Big thanks to Miss Powell for capturing the trip in this brilliant video.
