When liquid is poured through a pipe into one glass, it flows through the connecting tubes and the level becomes the same in all three glasses. Dengan kata lain, tekanan yang diberikan pada suatu titik dalam fluida tertutup akan diteruskan ke seluruh bagian fluida tanpa mengalami penurunan . Esse princípio foi enunciado pelo cientista francês Blaise Pascal e é a base do funcionamento de diversos dispositivos hidráulicos. Em sistemas como freios ou elevadores hidráulicos, a força aplicada em um ponto é transmitida pelo fluido, permitindo que seja multiplicada em outra extremidade. The law doesn't apply equally if the fluid can escape. ​Transmitted Equally: A change in pressure at one point creates an identical pressure change everywhere else. It's not "stronger" close to the source. ​Undiminished: The amount of pressure change doesn't decrease as it moves through the fluid. ​Acts in All Directions: Pressure doesn't just push down; it pushes sideways and up against all surfaces. ​The Big Application: Hydraulic Systems ​The most powerful application of Pascal's Law is in hydraulic systems. These systems use a confined liquid to multiply force, allowing a small force in one place to create a huge force somewhere else. This is how car brakes, heavy machinery, and garage lifts work. ​A basic hydraulic system consists of two connected cylinders, one small and one large, both filled with liquid (usually oil) and sealed with pistons. ​Input: You apply a small force (F_1) to the small piston (Area A_1). ​Pressure Transmitted: This creates a pressure (P = F_1 / A_1). Because of Pascal’s Law, this exact same pressure (P) is transmitted through the entire fluid. ​Output: This pressure (P) acts on the large piston (Area A_2). ​Force Multiplication: The resulting force on the large piston (F_2) is calculated as F_2 = P \times A_2. Because A_2 is much larger than A_1, the output force (F_2) is much larger than your initial force (F_1). ​The Trade-Off ​It might look like you're getting something for nothing, but there's always a catch! The "catch" is distance. ​To create that large force, you must push the small piston down a long distance. The large piston, generating a huge force, only moves up a very short distance. ​You are multiplying force, but you are losing distance.
