RUIndian patent applications are skyrocketing.
Patents in India has historically been a disappointing topic, especially before the pandemic. Let's take a look at some India patent statistics. The leading countries that use the Patent Cooperation Treaty are China, the United States, and Japan. Indian patents don't even make the Top 10 here. In 2026 the United States is at 600K patents granted, China is at 1M, and Indian patents granted are at just under 65K. That being said though, India is currently number six right now when it comes to patent applications, and unlike any other country in the Top 10, Indian patent applications are seeing double-digit percentile growth. Not only that, but this is the sixth year in a row of this double-digit Indian patent application growth.
There's a company in Keralam called Genrobotics that has over 20 granted patents. They're building robots faster than anybody can keep track. They recently scored a contract with AMC (Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation) for the deployment of their Bandicoot Mobility+ robotic sewer cleaning systems.
