Official launch day for the first @fibremood issue [ad] and this is my second make! You might have seen some popping up already on the #linkpartyspecial1 hashtag with the different patterns that Fibre Mood has on offer this time. PDFs and magazine now on their website. This is the Nellie dress. A super simple but effective dress, this is size S, and I added pockets. It is quite short which I actually like for winter since it also has long trumpet? sleeves (flare towards the hem). The split at the back finishes quite low but easy to sew up the centre back seam if you want. Fabric: embroidered ramie from @patternfantastique when she had a short run of this fabric on sale. Happy I saved it for a pattern that would really show off the fabric! Pretty pleased with the minimalistic look with my docs, now I need to go to some parties. Pattern is also going to be the sewalong pattern for next week Thursday 8 Dec if you’re keen to have a chat live on IG (via the @fibremood account). If you’re looking for a beginner skirt to try then I highly recommend. 🌞 I hadn’t had more then 2 days off work in a row since December and my boss last minute gave me 5 days off and I don’t think I’ve ever needed it so much. I’ve done lots of sewing, C took me away for a night and we had a fab couple days exploring, ‘mooching’ (my fave hobby after sewing), we did some archery, cave tours and just had gorgeous quality time together. ❤️ my mind can’t quite keep up at the minute, I’m finding everything so overwhelming and difficult but im so lucky to have C looking after me and I actually have no clue what I’d do without him right now 💕💕 #sewingproject #sewistsofinstagram #sewist

Here is my version of the #validress by @patternfantastique ✨ I’ve wanted to make a dress like this for a really long time so when I saw this pattern it went straight on my mental to-make list! I’m such a fan of a big sleeve and this one ticks all the boxes. Plus a big floaty dress is always a winner in my book! If I made this dress again I’d slightly alter a few things to suit my personal preferences and to make the construction slightly more simple but overall I’m really happy with how it turned out and it’s already had several wears! This fabric is a vegetables dyed cotton from @spotlightstores and it’s very light, perfect for summer.

On my Calyx Smock I made hand-finished flat fell seams, a cool detail that I’ve seen on Indian designer clothing. Have you seen this before? It’s simply a flat fell seam where the second pass is a decorative running stitch done by hand. This can add a tiny element of color (if you wish) and also keeps the seams soft and flexible. I used DMC floche for the hand stitching because I like its softness and matte finish.The stitches can be any size you fancy; your hands will find their rhythm. The bias bound neckline is just the same except I made individual stitches for better control through the many layers of fabric.
