🔴 This photograph captures Peggy Seale Harris and her husband, Second Lieutenant Billie D. Harris, on their wedding day during World War II. Just weeks after their marriage, Billie was deployed to Europe as a fighter pilot with the U.S. Army Air Forces. In July 1944, his P-51 Mustang was shot down during a mission over Nazi-occupied France. For decades, Peggy received conflicting reports, some claimed he was missing in action, others that he had returned home elsewhere. Determined but without answers, she lived her life quietly, honoring his memory while never truly knowing his fate. 🔺 In 2005, more than 60 years later, Peggy learned the truth: Billie had been buried with full honors in Les Ventes, where the townspeople had lovingly tended his grave and held annual ceremonies in his name every year since 1945. 🔺 The discovery brought both heartbreak and peace, proof that her husband’s sacrifice had never been forgotten. 🔴 Added Fact: To this day, the people of Les Ventes continue to hold parades and fly both the American and French flags in Billie’s honor, making him one of the most revered foreign soldiers in their town’s history. . . . . . . . . #scary #scarymovie #alien #aliens #alienware #alienabduction #alienlife #aliensky #reptiles #reptil #reptilesofinstagram #reptilian #reptile #reptilien #aliensarereal #ufos #uforia #ufofiles #ufology #ufologia #ufocatcher #ufosighting #ufo #ufosightings

Black history lives in Fairfield’s civic story, and this year marks 100 years since Carter G. Woodson launched Negro History Week in 1926. To close out Black History Month, we are honored to highlight Jesse Branch, known to many as Sergeant Major Branch, U.S. Marine Corps (Ret.). Jesse enlisted at 17 in 1951, then went on to a lifetime of service that still shapes Fairfield today, from civic leadership to youth and senior advocacy, and decades of impact at Solano Community College, where he focused on campus safety, mentorship, and athletics. Filmed at the Rowland Freedom Center at the Nut Tree Airport in Vacaville, thank you to their team for welcoming us on site. Jesse’s message: do not give up. Get involved. If you see something, say something. Together we stand. Divided, we fall. Thank you, Sergeant Major Branch.

Frederick Douglass Honors “The Unknown Loyal Dead” — A Massrox250 Feature This speech was originally delivered by Frederick Douglass at Arlington Cemetery on May 30, 1871. Following the American Civil War, Douglass visited cemeteries across the nation to honor fallen Union soldiers—both Black and white—through powerful commemorative speeches. Among the most renowned of these addresses are “The Gettysburg Speech” (1869) and “The Arlington Speech” (1871). Presented here as part of Massrox250 Honors, this excerpt is reenacted by Nathan M. Richardson with special permission from Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper, Virginia. #Massrox250Honors #FrederickDouglass #UnknownLoyalDead #ArlingtonSpeech #GettysburgSpeech #CivilWarHistory #AmericanHistory #BlackHistory #UnionSoldiers #memorialday🇺🇸

Corporal Isaiah Mays Born enslaved in Virginia in 1858, Isaiah Mays was freed at age 7 after the Civil War. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1881 and rose to Corporal in Company B, 24th U.S. Infantry—one of the legendary all-Black “Buffalo Soldiers” regiments. On May 11, 1889, near Pima, Arizona, he was part of a small escort guarding over $28,000 in Army payroll (worth ~$900K today) during the Wham Paymaster Robbery. Ambushed by 10–15 bandits, Mays fought bravely despite being wounded and outnumbered. After the payroll was stolen, he walked and crawled two miles to a nearby ranch to get help—securing aid for his comrades and enabling pursuit of the robbers. For this incredible display of gallantry and endurance, Corporal Mays was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Benjamin Harrison on February 19, 1890—alongside Sergeant Benjamin Brown. His citation highlights: “Gallantry in the fight... Mays walked and crawled two miles to a ranch for help.” He served honorably for 12 years until injuries forced his discharge in 1893. Mays passed away in 1925, and today his legacy is honored through Buffalo Soldiers memorials, historical markers, and renewed recognition in Arizona. Corporal Isaiah Mays: from enslaved child → frontier soldier → Medal of Honor hero. His determination under fire saved lives and earned him a place among America’s greatest. ✊🏾🇺🇸 #BlackHistoryMonth #IsaiahMays #BuffaloSoldiers #MedalOfHonor #BlackPatriots WhamRobbery IndianWars AmericanHero

This is the grave of John Baker, a man whose life spanned a period of profound change in American history. John was born on June 22, 1825, in Greenport, Ohio, to George Baker and Eva Bart. He was the second oldest among his siblings, which included Henry, Philip, Sylvenas, and his sister Eva Baker. Growing up in Ohio during the early nineteenth century, John would have witnessed the rapid growth and development of a young nation. On March 6, 1851, John married Susan C. Haines in Mahoning County,Ohio. Together they built a family and welcomed two known sons, Sylvester and George Baker. As their children were being born, the country was moving toward one of its most defining conflicts—the American Civil War. Answering the call to serve, John enlisted on May 10, 1864, joining the 122nd Ohio Infantry, Company G. Though he entered the war during its later years, his service was part of the broader effort that ultimately preserved the Union. He faithfully served for approximately one year before being honorably discharged on June 26, 1865, shortly after the war’s end. After his military service, John continued his life with his family and lived to the age of 76. He passed away on April 8, 1902, in Wayne County, Michigan. Just four years later, his wife Susan followed him in death. Today, both rest side by side in Sterling Cemetery, a lasting testament to a life defined by family, service, and endurance through one of America’s most turbulent eras. . . . . . . #cemeteryobsession #genealogy #history #gravegeeks #cemetery
