That’s what went down at Kewarra Beach yesterday with keen surfers braving the wild weather coming off the back end of Cyclone Narelle.
We don’t usually get much surf here in Cairns as the breaks occur off the Coast on the Great Barrier Reef.
By the time I got to Kewarra yesterday, Council crews had already done most of the heavy lifting, cleaning the place up. There was not much debris and damage in Clifton Beach but Palm Cove was still copping a bashing from a combination of King Tides, Storm Surge and waves coming off Cyclone Narelle.
Council crews were working hard to make safe sections of Palm Cove that had been washed away, including footpaths and signage.
