I’m lucky enough that my HR rep was in my corner and gave me this feedback when applying for my maternity leave. 🩷 It doesn’t make you completely say from termination, but it does offer a little added protection. re: being laid off while on maternity leave or while pregnant! This is for all my corporate people or all my people that need a work-related wakeup call!

But let’s talk about the finances part when starting a family. I’ve heard many stories from clients I’ve supported that mum stays home and dad plans for 1 month at home and then back to work. Yes, having a baby takes investing time and money into. In Massachusetts Employers are “required to provide 8 weeks of UNPAID leave for birth, or the adoption of their child” However, to ease your worries, we have the PAID FAMILY and MEDICAL LEAVE ACT, began in 2021, that will support you up to 15 weeks paid if a company you work for does not. Did you know that each time you pay taxes, a portion of your money goes to funding this time to heal after birth, to bond with your new family, or grieving the loss of a child during birth. Claim that time you’ve invested, claim that money because it is yours. Administered by the state, PFML provides up to 12 weeks of paid leave for eligible employees to care for a new child, a seriously ill family member, death of a child, their own health needs, or time for victims of domestic or sexual violence to access care and resources.
