Immanuel Kant is the greatest philosopher because he fundamentally reshaped how we think about knowledge, morality, and reason itself. In the _Critique of Pure Reason_, he solved the deadlock between rationalism and empiricism by arguing that the mind actively structures experience through categories like space, time, and causality. This “Copernican revolution” in philosophy showed that we can have objective knowledge, but only of phenomena as they appear to us, not things-in-themselves. By setting clear limits to reason, Kant avoided both dogmatism and skepticism and laid the foundation for modern epistemology. His moral philosophy is equally foundational. Kant’s categorical imperative — act only according to maxims you could will to be universal laws, and treat humanity as an end, never merely as a means — provides a secular, rational basis for ethics that doesn’t depend on religion, consequences, or personal desire. It grounds human dignity and rights in reason itself, influencing law, human rights theory, and political philosophy ever since. Where other moral systems rely on outcomes or divine command, Kant’s deontology offers a principled framework that applies universally. Finally, Kant’s influence is unmatched in scope and durability. He set the agenda for German Idealism (Fichte, Schelling, Hegel all respond to him), and his ideas echo in contemporary debates about autonomy, justice, and the limits of science. No other philosopher so systematically integrated metaphysics, ethics, aesthetics, and political theory while also defining the task of philosophy as critique — examining the conditions and limits of reason. That combination of depth, rigor, and lasting impact makes Kant the greatest philosopher. #immanuelkant #philosophy #philosopher #fyp

Osho was born as Chandra Mohan Jain on 11 December 1931 in Kuchwada, Madhya Pradesh, India. Raised largely by his grandparents during early childhood, he often described those years as formative for his independence and questioning spirit. From a young age, he challenged religious authority, social norms, and fixed beliefs. He studied philosophy at D.N. Jain College and later at Sagar University, where he earned a master’s degree in philosophy. In the late 1950s, he became a professor of philosophy at Jabalpur University. During this time, he traveled across India delivering public lectures that questioned organized religion, socialism, Gandhi’s ideology, and conventional morality. His boldness quickly made him both popular and controversial. In the 1960s and 70s, he began initiating disciples and developed active meditation techniques, including Dynamic Meditation, designed for the modern restless mind. He emphasized awareness, freedom from conditioning, and living life totally rather than repressively. His talks covered Buddha, Mahavira, Krishna, Jesus, Lao Tzu, Zen, Sufism, Tantra, psychology, love, politics, and consciousness. In 1974, he established an ashram in Pune, Maharashtra, which became an international center for meditation and therapy groups. In 1981, he moved to the United States, where his followers created the Rajneeshpuram commune in Oregon. The commune became involved in legal controversies, including immigration fraud and a bioterror attack carried out by some members of his inner circle without his direct involvement. In 1985, Osho was arrested on immigration-related charges, entered an Alford plea, and was deported from the United States. After traveling briefly through several countries, he returned to Pune in 1987, where he continued giving discourses until his death on 19 January 1990. His ashes are kept at the Osho International Meditation Resort in Pune. . . Follow @ for more content. . . #osho #osholovers #oshointernational #philosopher #explorepage

WEAKNESS IS NOT AN ACCIDENT, IT’S A CHOICE. Follow @thebest.speeches for more timeless ideas and powerful minds. Few thinkers have shaped the modern world as deeply as Nietzsche. His ideas didn’t comfort people, they challenged them. He believed society wasn’t held back by fate, but by fear. Fear of thinking independently. Fear of standing alone. Fear of leaving comfort behind. Nietzsche saw a world where many preferred safety over truth, imitation over thought, choosing ease instead of growth. To him, weakness wasn’t something that happened to people. It was something they accepted. And the real question he leaves us with isn’t philosophical. It’s personal. 🎤: Friedrich Nietzsche Do you think weakness is imposed by society or chosen by individuals? Massimo Pigliucci argues that the Stoic’s philosophy of life can be understood in terms of two fundamental pillars. One is that we should live according to nature, meaning that we live with an understanding and respect for our nature as rational, social animals. The second pillar is the dictonomy of control. This involves an acknowledgment that some things are under our control and others are not. A good life is one in which we focus on the former, and adopt an attitude of acceptance towards the latter. The things that are really up to us are our own considered judgements, the values that we endorse, and our decisions to act and not to act. Pretty much everything else is not up to us – our health, wealth and posessions and career. While we can influence these things, the outcome is not actually under our control. Head to our website to get access to Massimo Pigliucci’s academy course - ‘Stoicism as Practical Philosophy’ and learn how adopting a stoic mindset can improve your life and wellbeing. #Stoicism #EverydayStoic #StoicPhilosophy #Epictetus #MassimoPigliucci #AncientPhilosophers #GreekPhilosophy #RomanPhilosophy #Religion #LetGoOfControl #ReleaseControl #Serenity #PracticalPhilosophy #DailyStoic #Control #OutOfControl #EmbraceTheChaos #TheGoodlife #RationalAnimal #SocialAnimals #Philosopher #BigIdeas #PhilosophyMagazine #InstituteOfArtAndIdeas
